Bio

May-Day are an Indie Folk three piece from the south coast of the United Kingdom, their music has hints of folk, blues, rock and pop, drawing influences from artists such as Paolo Nutini, Mumford and Sons, Ray Lamontagne and Jason Mraz to mention a few.

Currently booking shows with touring acts and festivals as well as booking interviews, reviews and radio plugging to promote themselves the best they can. The band are heading into the studio soon to record their first E.P but for now there is a collection of demos available to listen to across the Internet.

The May-Day three piece consists of Dan Day on vocals and piano, Marty on Guitar, backing vocals and percussion and Ali on the Cajon and percussion. They where formed in October of 2009 whilst Marty and Dan where at college together and wanted to work together on some original material. Then in spring of 2010, Marty's brother Ali joined the band on the Cajon and percussion, to add more dynamics to their music.

Marty and Dan have become a very good song writing partnership, They finished as semi-finalists in the UK song writing competition and performed at Portsmouth 'All about the song competition'. May-Day supported 'Lupen Crook and the Murderbirds' on part of their mini UK tour, supported Canadian band 'Plants and Animals', Aussie band 'Philadelphia Grand Jury' and performed on the same bill at a charity event as 'Adam Ant'. The bands have also played a selection of festivals this summer.
