"MAYDAY GROUND ‘IN TECHNICOLOR’ (INDEPENDENT)"

High quality rockband from Nashville, USA with a CD co-produced by legendary BILLY FALCON, one of JON BON JOVI’s heroes… The band MAYDAYGROUND is playing typical American Hard rock with one foot in the 80s and another in the rock style as we know it today. They are just a slight bit away from the sound of bands like HINDER and BUCKCHERRY. 10 songs are on their debut CD ‘In Technicolor’ and although far from really original, this record is a strong rock album with such catchy tunes like Nothing without You, Million Dollar You (pure T-REX), Pieces Of Me and Dear Life, some even reveal some late 90s/00s DEF LEPPARD influences (the period they dropped the 80s style!), although it more reminds me of CHEAP TRICK/T-REX going for a more modern JET meets U2/KEANE kind of rock sound. 2 of the members of MAYDAYGROUND played in the band BLUE TEARS, the legendary Melodic Rockband which recently released 2 new CDs. Classic Rock with modern touch is what suits this MAYDAY GROUND release best and therefore better check it out for yourself at: http://www.maydayground.com

"Maydayground: The Debut Album, In Technicolor"

Every once in a while a record comes along that reminds us why people picked up electric guitars in the first place. When done right, rock music should make you feel like you just stuck your finger in a light socket. A chill runs down the spine and makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck.

Such is the case with the debut album by Maydayground, a Nashville based three-piece band consisting of Michael Spears, bass guitar, lead vocals, Bryan Hall, guitar/vocals, and drummer Ludo Baccherini.

Michael and Bryan, friends since childhood, spent several years with best friend, Gregg Fulkerson, in Blue Tears, a band that reached underground cult status.

The two have since departed and have teamed up with singer, songwriter Billy Falcon, an alumni of rock's noble under-ground, (Bon Jovi, Stevie Nicks) who first worked with Spears and Hall on his magnificent 2003 release, "Songs About Girls", which Spears co-produced.

The results of their current collaboration can be heard on their melodic new album, In Technicolor
The record opens with Smile, a rollicking modern rock song with pulsating bass to get your heart pumping and a searing guitar solo from Bryan Hall.

The second track, Nothing Without You is an anguished plea from a soul obviously lost in love and willing to do anything to stay there:

Put on a costume, and be your clown
And make you laugh by falling down
If that’s how you want me
Then that’s how I’ll be…
Anyway, anyhow, if you’d like me better inside out
It sounds pathetic but it’s true,
No matter what I am, I’m nothing without you…

100 Years Ago is a nostalgic look at Garage Bands that any one who was weaned on
Rock-Roll will immediately relate to with memorable lyrics like:

Ask your mother if it’s cool
Get your Dad to move the car
I’ll come over after school
And help you clean out the garage…
A hundred years ago
When we were young and stupid

Three Minute Pop Song cleverly points out the brevity of life that is a product of having matured enough to realize that youth is fleeting:

Time flies it rushes by so fast
Life’s a three minute pop song
Hello goodbye, well it’s gone in a flash
Life’s a three minute pop song

Sunny and 72 captures love’s magical refuge from life’s trials and tribulations:

Life is hard but God is good
He made me a place called you
Standing in a pouring rain
Still it’s sunny and 72
Yeah it’s always sunny and 72…

Perhaps the most memorable track on the record is If You’re Lonely, with its poetic lyrics, moody ethereal vocal from Michael Spears and its orchestrated soundscape reminiscent of Pink Floyd. & the Beatles:

Crack in the sidewalk
A tear on a rose
Black bird in the gray sky
A face no one knows
Look around now, you’re gonna find out
You are not the only one
If you’re lonely, you’re not alone…

This album is loaded with beautifully crafted melodies, poignant lyrics, and plenty of guitars! All in all, a stellar debut album with no missteps that after a few listens will quickly take up residence in your sub conscience!

“Life’s a three minute pop song, learn the words and sing along”

Every once in a while a record comes along that reminds us why people picked up electric guitars in the first place. When done right, rock music should make you feel like you just stuck your finger in a light socket. A chill runs down the spine and makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck.

Such is the case with the debut album by Maydayground; a Nashville based three piece band consisting of Michael Spears, bass guitar, lead vocals, Bryan Hall, guitar/vocals, and drummer Ludo Baccherini. Michael and Bryan, friends since childhood spent several years with best friend Gregg Fulkerson, in Blue Tears, a band that reached underground cult status.

The two have since departed and have teamed up with singer songwriter Billy Falcon, Falcon, alumni of rock’s noble underground, (Bon Jovi, Stevie Nicks) first worked with Spears and Hall on his magnificent 2003 release, “songs About Girls), which Spears co-produced and most recently Billy’s 2006 release ”Made Man” another co-produced by Spears. Those sessions led to Michael producing Rose Falcon on her Columbia Records debut single, “UP UP UP”, a chart topper on Disney Radio.

The results of their current collaboration can be heard on Maydayground’s new album “in Technicolor”. Songs like If your lonely, Sunny and 72, and Nothing without you, demonstrate songwriting at its best with poetic lyrics, haunting melodies. And of course, plenty of edgy guitars and Ludo’s driving drums. Add Michael’s moody vocals and the result is an atmospheric soundscape that after a few listens, will take up residence in your subconscious.

Maydayground’s new debut record is pop wise rock with a dash of spontaneity and wit, memorable hooks, driving beat and signature vocals.

“Life is a three minute pop song, turn around and it’s gone”
