Bio
Mayfly is a duet of sweet harmony vocals and folk instrumentals influenced by southern appalachian old-time, blues, ballads and soul music. The two women are greatly influenced by old-time and appalachian music, and the sounds of more contemporary bands including The Be Good Tanyas, The Mammals,The Wailing Jennies, Greg Brown and Crooked Still. Mayfly has been together for eight years, learning tunes entirely by ear and transforming them into unique compositions. They represent the changing face of folk music today.
