'Each instrument/vocal adds an extra level of depth to the music and makes ‘Tinderbox’ a supreme pleasure to listen to.' - Is This Music?
Headliners Mayhew are more than able to live up to this excellent array of support. Lead singer Cathy Wilcock embodies all the adjectives that make music journos froth at the mouth: she’s waif-like, elfin, almost ghostly, her voice floating on top of a symphony of strings while wooden percussive beats rush through it all like wind through reeds. This is their second-last gig before relocating to Manchester to pursue a music career; they’ve already had support from selected music mags and BBC6 Music, as well as triumphing over around 1600 other bands for a slot at Glastonbury, via the Emerging Talent competition.
Attend their EP launch at the Roxy Art House on Tue 15 Jun to see it for yourself. - The List

Bio
Mayhew accidentally met in Edinburgh during 2008/9, and enjoyed a successful two years there, playing numerous shows around Scotland and recording and releasing their debut EP 'Tinderbox'. They were also featured as NME Breakthrough Band of the Week, and found favour with both a public vote and an expert panel in Q magazine's Emerging Talent Competition to land a main stage slot at Glastonbury 2010.
The band recently relocated to Manchester, where they have been writing fresh material and honing a new sound. They will be announcing gig dates in the near future.
