"Ska Lives Album Review: May Weather-Your Life on Optimism"

Check out May Weather's new album "Your Life on Optimism"! It's easily one of the best Ska albums of the year! You can pick it up on Bandcamp, iTunes, and Amazon! - Ska Lives

"May Weather"

May Weather hails from western Maryland. They were the first in their hometown to take the cheesy little idea of "ska" to a progressive level. They were officially founded in 2010 after a long and gradual experiment of combining a metal drummer, a prog-rock guitarist, a jam-band bassist and some accomplished horn players from a couple of well established University music programs. Since their founding, May Weather has played hundreds venues all over the east coast in Maryland, Washington D.C., New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Hampshire including the 9:30 club in Washington, D.C., the Sad Cafe in Plaistow, NH, the Sherman Theatre in Stroudsburg, PA, and many others. May Weather has played with countless bands, most notably have been Big D and the Kids Table at the Rock N' Roll Hotel in Washington, D.C., and I, The Breather in Frederick, MD. May Weather is currently finishing up their first full-length album titled "Your Life On Optimism" which will be released on December 14 at Right Choice Ministries in Hagerstown, MD. The album will be available on iTunes, www.May-Weather.com, and other online music vendors the following day.

The recent summer tour took May Weather up the east coast in promotion of their debut EP titled "This Is Almost an Album". The tour took them through cities such as Syracuse, NY, Atlantic City, NJ, and several others. The EP received several positive reviews from groups such as "Ska Lives" which has promoted heavily at events like Creation Fest. It was also reviewed and praised by Leanor Ortega or "Jeff the girl": saxophone player for long-time ska band, Five Iron Frenzy. Perhaps the best description of this album has been from Chase Long Beach, a California ska group. Former lead singer, Karen Roberts, said "this album is all over the place, but maybe for the first time ever, in a good way." The EP featured pop-punk, swing, progressive-rock, dubstep, and heavy metal tracks, all featuring a tight rock band and a powerful horn section.

The band consists of lead vocalist/guitarist and primary writer Ross Semler, vocalist/writer/bassist Tallon Reazin, guitarist Brian Kough, drummer/writer Bailey Kercheval, trumpet player Jon Koch, trombone player Kris Nigh, and bari sax player Wayne Hawkins. This winter the band will be venturing on two tours in promotion of their first full-length album! They have been invited to perform at several well established venues in six states including Bar East, New York City's top rock n' roll club! In the summer, possibly following the recording of another EP, May Weather plans on taking a two week tour to the west coast and playing with some big name acts in the area. The tour would potentially take them through Oklahoma, Colorado, California, and many other states.

The mission of this band is to bring a new flavor to the current rock scene in America. They hope to revive a sound that combines a long dormant genre and the progressive rock genres of today. If you want to know what they are talking about, look it up at www.May-Weather.com and give them a listen for free. Look for May Weather's album on December 15th, 2012.
