MAZE

Singer/Songwriter Mark Maze was born to an English mother, a carer from Lincoln and a Father who worked as an oil surveyor from Italian descent. Maze grew up on a rough council estate on the outskirts of Leicester, where he lived with his parents and older sister up until his parents divorced. There he was to witness many of his friends fall to wayside of drugs but it was his ambition and nurturing of his talent that made him want for a better life.
Artists who echoed through music the idea that anything was possible influenced him the most. "For me the teaming of music,theatre and fashion just made sense and excited me"

Frequenting the London audition circuit enabled him to make relevant contacts, one of which took him to a meeting with a London producer who was putting together a new mixed group to launch, named “Ovation” and from this made the move to the big smoke. "My focus was to bring my poetry to life to tell my truths as i understood them and creatively but management wanted full control which i found stifling and not why I wanted to make music. This was a massive learning curve for me as I really learnt to trust my intuition, a tool which always has stood me in good sted along with the belief that you should always be true to yourself and you can never ask too many questions even if it pisses people off!"

He teamed up with a DJ he met on a night out who played in a venue called “The Spot” on Wednesday nights who allowed him to sing on RnB tracks on an open mike night which kept his fire of ambition burning in the meantime.

As luck would have it a friend of a friend told him that a modeling agency was looking for a “Full time junior booker” which he applied for and got.
London began to show Maze what he had dreamt of from that council estate that now seemed a million miles away.
It was from here that he was taught a solid work ethic that he still applies today because he understands what it is like to manage and be managed and what separates you from your competition, "mostly hard work, reliability, a ton of ambition and an unshakable self belief. To think that my passion was not going to get me to where I needed to be, was never an option"

In an industry that is currently saturated with female artists Maze has a place of belonging."It's time for the boys to be heard and anyone else who dares to be different, not wanting to conform for the sake of an easy life can join the ride!" He has been described as "honest and outspoken, duelling toughness with vulnerability, resembling a male Pink, but prettier!"
