Biography

MCDAID's soulful, haunting music stirs the soul. Coming of age at the same time the music scene exploded in his hometown of Dublin, Ireland, MCDAID benefited from an environment relatively free of the restrictions abounding in cities with entrenched musical views. MCDAID's intense and passionate music has drawn a large following on both sides of the Atlantic, driven by his mind-blowing live performances. The Irish Times hails MCDAID as "potentially explosive," and Hot Press Magazine raves, "each and every performance is lifted with an air of conviction by MCDAID's fine voice." Influenced by a broad and diverse range of music, including the likes of Bjork, Gay Dad, Radiohead, Ryan Adams, Leonard Cohen, and Chris Isaak, MCDAID continues to draw from his roots. "One of the most incredible moments in my life was seeing Johnny Cash and the Carter Cash Band in Dublin. It was the first concert I ever saw and it changed my life," he says. With a desire to broaden his musical horizons, MCDAID left Ireland with his guitar and a suitcase full of songs and headed to New York City to play in such famed places as CBGB's, THE ELBO ROOM, THE KNITTING FACTORY, and a residency at THE LIVING ROOM. MCDAID quickly built a large stateside following, hungry for his passionate music. Splitting his time between the U.S. and Ireland, MCDAID is back in the studio, working on a much-anticipated new release entitled "The Black Heart Recordings." MCDAID will be hitting the road and touring the states and Europe this winter.
