"European reviews"

"Hansen has learned the craft during numerous performances over the whole world and made it completely his own. His songs are unstrikingly good, and the same can be said about his sidemen."
John Gjaltema - AltCountry

"Songs that you actually expect from a seasoned American singer-songwriter, more than from a resident of the Northern Europe. This seems to us the best compliment this singing songsmith can receive".
3,5 out of 5 stars

The songs are catchy and they remind me of a slightly more subdued Langhorne Slim (who I like a lot). Hansen hails from Denmark, but his sound is quite Americana if not universal.”
(David Hintz, Folk World, Germany)

"I like this. Honest nice and stripped down folk / roots from Denmark.I like the production, not far from swedish band The tallest Man on Earth, and the songwriting is good in a traditionally way. In addition, his voice sounds deep and clear."
(Petter Seander Red Hot Rock Magazine, Sweden)

"I’ve never heard of this talented folky Danish songwriter before. Yet his music sounds familiar. 3,5 out of 5 stars
(Cis van Looy www.keysandchords.com, Holland)

"The sound of Pariah is in fact its most convincing aspect, it shows a sensitive touch and the ability to seem like the real thing and not a pale imitation. In fact, in some instances, this album even teaches a good lesson to its American cousins.”
(Fabio Cerbone Roots Highway, Italy)

”Good Americana rock does not necessarily come from the States. This summer I discovered the "Country Feedback Club" and now from the north comes this new MC Hansen. The eleven good rock songs will without a doubt make "Pariah" a bestseller in' Americana country.
(Rootsville.be, Belgium)

"Pariah" is the result of clever writer’s work and excellent musical performance from the duct MC Hansen and his excellent backing band

DESPITE support act MC Hansen forgetting to plug his guitar in, the night’s proceedings got off to a great start, with no rapping Mmmbop-style as his name might suggest.
MC Hansen was both easy on the ears and a joy to watch, he showed passion in his stage presence, combined with a great deliverance as he plucked his way through his melancholy tunes.

Acoustic music is something you might not link with Denmark, but in MC Hansen the Danes are certainly onto something

""Pariah" Liner notes"

“It’s a funny thing. I can’t even remember how long I’ve known MC. Feels like I’ve known him forever, but that can’t be the case because I’m from Aarhus and MC is from Præstø. Also, I’m several years older than MC. Never mind that. I think MC’s soul is at least as old as mine. Perhaps even a year or two older. I can tell by listening to MC’s songs. In a funny, wry way they contain great wisdom – no, not in any precocious sense, but a wisdom my own young soul is deeply fascinated by and just beginning to comprehend.

Just the other day I asked MC if he could give me three themes – three cues – for the songs on this album. The reply came promtly: ”Noahs Ark, Animal Farm and Train Stations”. I’m pondering on those three words while listening to MC’new songs: ”Noahs Ark, Animal Farm and Train Stations.

Something else I’m pondering on is what kind of a dude MC is. Some time ago, MC described himself as a ”this long-nosed dude with the hat”, and I think that describtion suits him pretty well – apart from the fact we often ascribe something peculiar, funny or even strange to the word dude. MC is an extraordinary friendly dude. I think you’ll hear that when you listen to the songs on this album.

Once, after a conversation with MC, I couln’t recall exactly how the strangest of all dudes, Bob Dylan, had described himself. I spent the whole day trying to remember and had the old Allman Brothers song in my head: ”Lord I was born a rambling Man, trying to make a living doing the best I can” Then all of a sudden there it was, the Dylan word: Minstrel! “I’m just a minstrel, travelin’ from town to town, singing my songs for people”. His Bob-ness supposedly once described himself in that particular way. Other words may be bard or troubadour, but if it’s okay with you, MC, can I call you a Danish minstrel??... A friendly long-nosed dude travelin’ from town to town singing his songs…with a hat!”

"live review Houston Jan. 2010"

First up on this night was Sweden's MC Hansen. Man, this guy was a throwback. Dressed in leather shoes, black slacks, printed dress shirt and black vest, he appeared to be a folk singer from the depression era right there, on stage, in 2010.
His songs fit the vibe as well. They were whimsical at times, made points about the world at others. He was at home on the stage and told stories that made people listen. He felt like a friend on stage coming to visit you. You could instantly see why he and Peters got along and hit the road together.
I had never heard him before this night, so I cannot offer you song titles or the like. I can only say to search out this man's music and enjoy it. I was quite smitten with it by the end of his set.

M.C. Hansen -folk singer/guitar slinger
"Hello there, my name is M.C Hansen.
I travel the world and sing for people. I've been on the road since the summer of 2003 when I finally pulled the plug on the intellectual world and decided to start singing my way around the world. I also play the guitar with the Sentimentals. We tour Europe and America with Jonathan Byrd, Matt Harlan, Vanessa Peters, Dana Cooper Ana Egge, Kevin Welch and Kim Beggs.

I have new album out called "3" recorded in three different places with three different bands.
Part 1 is the folky album with acoustic intruments around the song. On Part 2 I brought in my Danish band and recorded everything live in a big room. Part three is the experimental album where we ran the accordion through a wah-wha pedal and I sang into a can. Together they represent the three musical personalities I have. The part I understand, the part I make up and the part I didn't know existed.

I have had the pleasure of playing for people in France, the UK, Germany, Italy, Norway, Sweden, the US several times and of course in Denmark where I was born and raised.
see you out there!
