Blackpool indy-rock 4-piece Medicine are celebrating after signing an 15-month contract with national independent record label It’s Time Records. The development contract was offered to the band following a number of meetings through the summer which culminated in the contract being signed on 1st October 06.

Since their formation just over three years ago, Medicine have been building a reputation locally for their unusual blend of indy-rock with Adam Stewart on vocals and lead guitar, Ben Rigney on rhythm guitar, brother Liam on bass and Dom Brown on drums.

A demo featuring a few of the band’s favourite tracks was recorded earlier this year and sent to a number of record labels in the hope that they could progress a career in the music industry. It caught the attention of the A&R department at independent UK record label It’s Time Records, who specialise in helping musicians to navigate their way through the industry maze and maximise their chances of success.

Head of Label, Nick Elliott, explains further: “The label gets dozens of submissions each year, some good, some very good but rarely do we receive a demo that excites us. With Medicine we did and with the band’s overall potential we thought we had received something special that deserved more attention.�

Discussions lead to It’s Time Records offering Medicine a contract to develop the band and over the next 15-months the label will be looking at all aspects from re-styling and reviewing their image, producing photographs and a website and handling public relations to releasing and promoting the band’s first single.

Nick continues: “The music industry can be a very daunting place. It’s Time Records offers a home to new talent and currently represents and manages four other artists from around the UK. This is an exciting time for both the label and Medicine and we are looking forward to a great future together.�

Medicine was formed when Adam was introduced to Ben and Liam at Hodgson High School and began jamming together but it was only after they met Dom whilst at Blackpool and Fylde College that the band was complete.

Lead vocalist Adam continues the story: “The band work really well together, we share the same musical influences and are all on the same page. We were all over the moon when we were offered the contract with It’s Time Records. We really respect what the label are doing and believe that they can help us to further our music in the coming future.�

Adam concluded: “Eventually we aim to release an album and do a sell-out tour to people who want to listen to our music and the next year with It’s Time Records will be a great start to that journey.�
