Bio

Medicine Lake is a Baltimore-based, 6 piece, Acoustic-driven rock band. As one of the mid-Atlantic’s fastest up and coming bands, they succeed in combining acoustic rock with a unique, progressive mentality. Their debut EP was released in December 2010. Their unique orchestration and broad range of influence allows them limitless bounds in scene or genre.
Unusual in its composition, Medicine Lake features a number of Peabody Conservatory graduates and current students as well as some seasoned Baltimore pop/rock scene veterans. Simon Pyles, the group’s singer/songwriter and acoustic guitarist, is a founding member of the band along with co-founder, drummer, and backup vocalist, Chris Pierorazio, a peabody Graduate. They have been involved in various Baltimore based music projects for the last 9 years and it is only in the last year that Medicine Lake has taken form and hit the ground running.
Jason Rogers, a current Peabody student is featured on saxophone and backing vocals, and Doug Perry, a second Peabody grad and current Graduate student at the University of Kansas is featured on keyboards, marimba, vibraphone and backing vocals. Bassist, Dan Price, another current Peabody student and electric guitarist, Jeremy Travlos, another Baltimore native, round out the group.
The collaborative writing process the band is currently undertaking is creating a lot of buzz among the exponentially growing fan base. Each song displays musical precision, display of sheer skill, and listenability. The range of influences on Medicine Lake's music is endless, from the commonly compared to, Dave Matthews Band, to Porcupine Tree, Classical, Bluegrass, Jazz, and the foundation of all their listening careers, 90's alt rock. The biggest influence to the band is more often than not their own music and playing off one another in the writing process. There is a spark to this group that propels their music to places that are hard to describe and easily enjoyed and appreciated by fans and other musicians alike.
Medicine Lake’s new CD was recorded at Invisible Sound Studios in Baltimore and produced by Dave Nachodsky.
