BandPopSinger/Songwriter

What is MEDINA music, you ask? It’s eclectic for certain! MEDINA music is a bit of Rock, some Pop with hints of Latin, Bluegrass, Folk, Soul and anything else you can think of all played LIVE by two talented musicians.

Biography

After achieving success placing their tunes on network TV shows such as CBS’ Swingtown and ABC’s Desperate Housewives this pair of accomplished songwriters decided it was time to bring their style of music to the public LIVE.

Intense guitar playing, unique percussion, and sweet sounding harmonies make up MEDINA. Formed in 2008, this duo from South Florida is considered an acoustic act by some, but their full sound would fool anyone. When performing LIVE, Tony plays the guitar with as much passion as technique, making it sound like multiple guitars are in play while Mireya keeps time with a sit-atop percussive box called the cajon. Both share the microphone with catchy tunes and beautiful harmonies that are MEDINA’s signature.

Their August 2010 CD release Branded, is an eclectic mix of music with heartfelt lyrics. Singles to listen for; When I’m with you, Branded, Time to Go and Life is Good.

With a penchant for variety MEDINA succeeds at delivering a unique and extremely entertaining show!

Lyrics

WHEN I'M WITH YOU

Written By: Tony Medina/Mireya Valdes-Medina

When I’m with you, there’s no need to be blue
You pick me up when I am down
There’re no grey skies or rain, no sorrow or pain
And no more running around

When I’m with you, I feel strong
And nothing else can go wrong you’ll see
It’s you and me

So let’s spend the day, like two kids at play
And we’ll pretend that we just met
So I could again, make you love me my friend
Cause I don’t want you to forget

When I’m with you, I feel strong
And nothing else can go wrong you’ll see
It’s you and me

La La La

When I’m with you, I feel strong
And nothing else can go wrong you’ll see
It’s you and me

La La La

AINT GONNA LET'EM

Written By: Tony Medina/Mireya Valdes-Medina

I SWEAR IT, COULDN’T BEAR IT
IF I KNEW THAT YOU WERE TELLING ME A LIE
I THINK THAT I WOULD DIE

I SWEAR IT, COULDN’T BEAR IT
IF I THOUGHT THAT THERE WAS SOMEONE ELSE BUT ME
I THINK I’D SET YOU FREE

BUT WILD HORSES, COULDN’T DRAG US APART
THOUGH THERE’RE FORCES THAT WOULD LIKE TO PULL US APART
I’M NEVER GONNA LET’EM.

I SWEAR IT, COULDN’T BEAR IT
IF I FOUND THAT YOU WERE WITH ANOTHER GIRL
I THINK THAT I’D UNFURL

I SWEAR IT, COULDN’T BEAR IT
IF I KNEW THAT IT WAS ALL ABOUT TO END
I THINK I’D PHONE A FRIEND.

BUT WILD HORSES, COULDN’T DRAG US APART
THOUGH THERE’RE FORCES THAT WOULD LIKE TO PULL US APART
I’M NEVER GONNA LET’EM

AINT GONNA LET THEM BREAK MY HEART
WOO HOO HOO
AINT GONNA LET THEM EVEN START
WOO HOO HOO
AINT GONNA BE THAT KIND OF FOOL
WOO HOO HOO
AINT GONNA BE SOMEBODY’S FOOL
WOO HOO HOO

THE MIDDLE

Written By: Tony Medina/Mireya Valdes-Medina

I’M JUST RUSHING DOWN THE ROAD
AND I GOT SOME JOKER ON THE PHONE
TELLING ME MY MORTGAGE IS LATE
HERE’S THE MIDDLE RIGHT NOW

I GOT TEQUILA ON MY MIND
THOUGH MY BILLS ARE WAY BEHIND
SOME TELL ME IT’S ALL JUST FATE
IT’S THE MIDDLE RIGHT NOW

AND WE’LL REACH FOR THE TOP
BUT THEY’LL KICK US DOWN ONE NOTCH
TO THE MIDDLE RIGHT NOW

WORK OUR FINGERS TO THE BONE
BUT WE’LL KNOW WE’RE NOT ALONE
IN THE MIDDLE RIGHT NOW

SO THEY TELL ME NOT TO STRESS
WHILE THEY CRITICIZE MY DRESS
AND MY BUTTONS THEY ALL PRESS
IN THE MIDDLE RIGHT NOW

EVERYONE’S JUST GETTING BY
HALF OF THEM ARE GETTING HIGH
WHILE WE ALL JUST WANNA FLY
THAT’S THE MIDDLE RIGHT NOW

AND IT’S ALL JUST THE SAME
THAT THERE’S NO ONE LEFT TO BLAME
SO WE’LL LEARN TO LIVE AGAIN
IN THE MIDDLE RIGHT NOW

AND WE’LL LIVE WITHIN OUR MEANS
WITH THOSE OTHER KINGS AND QUEENS
WE’LL BE CLEANSED OF OUR SINS
IN THE MIDDLE RIGHT NOW

NOWHERE ELSE I'D RATHER BE

Written By: Tony Medina/Mireya Valdes-Medina

JUST WHEN I FEEL THAT IT’S ALL MAKING SENSE
SOMETHING COMES ROUND TRYING TO KNOCK ME OFF THE FENCE
TAKE A SIDE, TIME TO STIP TRYING TO HIDE

I KNOW I TRY JUST TO KEEP A LEVEL HEAD
BUT I CAN’T STOP TRYING TO GET YOU IN MY BED
I HOPE YOU SEE, THERE’S NO WHERE ELSE I’D RATHER BE…

MELODIES
COME TO ME
PAPER DREAMS
WHAT IT MEANS

WHEN YOU ARE BY MY SIDE, I SEE THE WORLD

FORGET THE PROMISES OF WHAT IS YET TO COME
BELIEVE THE NOW AS I OFTEN TEND TO RUN
REALITIES, DON’T COME EASY TO ME

YOU PLANT THE SEED AND WE’LL WATCH IT GROW AND THEN
THE WORLD REVOLVES AND WE’LL DO IT ALL AGAIN
THEN YOU’LL SEE, THERE’S NO WHERE ELSE I’D RATHER BE

ZEN'S SONG

Written By: Tony Medina/Mireya Valdes-Medina

HERE SHE COMES
MY GIRL
SHE’LL TERRORIZE
YOUR WORLD

EYES LIKE COAL LOOK RIGHT THROUGH YOU
NAILS SO SHARP THEY WILL CUT RIGHT THROUGH YOU TOO
BUT HER CHARM WILL SUBDUE YOU
SHE’S THE ONE WITH THE SMILE

SHE’S THE ONE
WITH CLASS
BUT ALWAYS ON
YOUR ASS

WITH MELANCHOLY IN HER WHINING
TO THINK OF ALL THE WHILE YOU SPENT YOUR TIME PINING
PICKED UP HER CRUMBS WHILE SHE WAS DINING
GETS YOU STILL WITH HER SMILE

WAKES YOU UP IN THE MO-OR-NING
WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A WA-AR-NING
SHARPENED CLAWS AND THOSE TEETH BUILT TO DEFILE
WITH A WINK AND A SMILE

I'M FREE

Written By: Tony Medina/Mireya Valdes-Medina

YOU KNOW THAT I LOVE YOU
BUT NOT CAUSE I WANT TO
WITH ALL THAT YOU WANTED IN ME

AND TIME IS NOT GENTLE
TO ALL THAT GROW WEARY
FROM WAITING FOR SOMETHING TO CHANGE

AND I COULD NOT OFFER
WHAT SOMEONE ELSE COULD
AND I’M SICK AND TIRED
OF FEELING I SHOULD
AS FOR ME, I’LL STILL BE

AND EACH TIME I SEE YOU
I’LL ACT AS IF THOUGH
I ALWAYS KNEW SOMEDAY
MY LOVE YOU’D OUTGROW

THOUGH INSIDE I’LL CURSE YOU
I’LL HOLD BACK THE TEARS
YOU’VE BROKEN YOUR PROMISE
AND WASTED MY YEARS

CAUSE I COULD NOT OFFER
WHAT SOMEONE ELSE COULD
AND I’M SICK AND TIRED
OF FEELING I SHOULD
AS FOR ME, I’M STILL FREE

I’LL STILL BE

CAUSE I COULD NOT OFFER
WHAT SOMEONE ELSE COULD
AND I’M SICK AND TIRED
OF FEELING I SHOULD
BUT FOR ME, I’M STILL FREE

LIFE IS GOOD

Written By: Tony Medina/Mireya Valdes-Medina

IT STARTED NOT SO LONG AGO
WHEN I WOULD REALIZE
ALTHOUGH MY LIFE’S NOT PERFECT
IT’S PERFECT IN MY EYES

I GOT MY HEALTH I GOT MY HANDS
SUN SHINE’S FROM UP ABOVE
I GOT MY SONGS, BUT MOST OF ALL
WHAT I REALLY GOT IS LOVE

LIFE IS GOOD, AS IT SHOULD BE
LIFE IS GOOD, YEAH IT’S GOOD FOR ME

LIFE IS GOOD, AS IT SHOULD BE
LIFE IS GOOD, YEAH IT’S GOOD FOR ME

I MAY NOT WEAR THE LATEST FASHIONS
MONEY’S SOMETIMES TIGHT
I’D RATHER SPEND THAT HARD EARNED CASH
WHEN I GO OUT AT NIGHT (LAUGH)

TONIGHT WE’LL TOAST TO FRIENDSHIP
TONIGHT WE’LL TOAST TO US
AND MAYBE IN THE MORNING
WE’LL HAVE MORE LEFT TO DISCUSS

AINT NO SENSE IN COMPLAINING
IT WON’T GET YOU NOWHERE
THE LITTLE TIME WE HAVE ON EARTH
WE SHOULD ALL LEARN TO CARE

A STAR TO DUST IS HOW IT ENDS
BUT MAYBE FOR TONIGHT
THE STARS WE SEE APPEAR TO BE
THE LOVE WITHIN THE LIGHT

TIME TO GO

Written By: Tony Medina/Mireya Valdes-Medina

WITH MY RIGHT HAND POUNDING ON MY LEFT BREAST
WITH MY FEET TALKING HOLD OF THE HALF REST
AND IT THEN WE PREPARE FOR THE BIG TEST
WHEN WE GO

HEAR A THUMP AND A STIR FROM THE BIG SKY
TAKE THE SIGN THAT YOU GET FROM THE BIG GUY
NOW YOU PRAY THAT YOU GET TO THE BIG FLY
WHEN WE GO

HEY MAMA, WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH YA
HEY PAPA, WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH YA
HEY MAMA, I SAY IT’S TIME TO GO

HEY MAMA, WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH YA
HEY PAPA, WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH YA
HEY MAMA, I SAY IT’S TIME TO GO

(HEY, HEY)

ME I LOVE WITH A HEART FOR THE BROKEN
IT’S A BADGE THAT I WEAR NOT A TOKEN
AND IT LEADS ME TO BE SO OUT SPOKEN
WHEN I GO

NOW AND THEN I FORGET WHERE I CAME FROM
LIKE MY HAND TORN AWAY FROM THE BIG DRUM
SO I BEAT HARD ON IT TILL IT GOES NUMB
THEN I GO

JUST BE GOOD AND KIND
AND IT WILL ALL PAN OUT IN TIME
REAP WHAT YOU HAVE SOWN
CAUSE IF YOU DID IT RIGHT YOU’LL NEVER BE ALONE

I’M NOT SURE IF I’LL GO WHERE THE AIRS CLEAR
I JUST HOPE THAT I GO WHERE THERE’S NO FEAR
SO I’LL RAISE YOU A TOAST WITH MY LIGHT BEER
WHEN I GO

AND I’LL DANCE AND I’LL SING WITH A BIG SMILE
AS I MAKE MY WAY UP THROUGH THE BIG AISLE
AND WE’LL WALK HAND IN HAND THROUGH THE LAST TRIAL
WHEN WE GO

BRANDED

Written By: Tony Medina/Mireya Valdes-Medina

TWO LOST SOULS FINDING THEIR WAY
BURNING HOT DESIRE

WHILE APART COUNTED THE DAYS
LIKE BIRDS CAUGHT ON A WIRE

AND THOSE WHO BRANDED THEM UNWORTHY
THEIR WORDS FALL TO A FORGOTTEN SEA

HEAVEN BLESSED THE DAY THAT THEY MET
A LOVE BETWEEN ADMIRERS

TOOK A CHANCE AND STARTED TO PLAY
TO SEE WHAT WOULD TRANSPIRE

AND THOSE WHO BRANDED THEM UNWORTHY
THEIR WORDS FALL TO A FORGOTTEN SEA

ON THE ROAD FLOWERS DOT THE HIGHWAY
THE PAVEMENT BURNS LIKE FIRE

AND THOSE TWO KEEP ON MAKING THEIR WAY
A LOVE THAT NEVER TIRES

LAST TRAIN OUT

Written By: Tony Medina/Mireya Valdes-Medina

HERE’S A FUNNY FABLE
BOUT A PAIR THAT WERE UNABLE
TO GET A DECENT SHOW
SEE IT MAY SEEM KINDA STRANGE
THAT THESE 2 WOULD PLAY FOR CHANGE
FOR A CROWD THAT’D NEVER GROW
SEE THEY’RE LIKE

2 PEAS IN THE WRONG POD
DELIBERATELY SO ODD
WRONG PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME
WAITING FOR THE LAST TRAIN OUT

SEE IT WASN’T LONG AGO
THAT THESE TWO WOULD FLY SOLO
BUT THEY’D NEVER GET TOO FAR
SO THEY STARTED THEIR OWN BAND
NOW THEIR BOTH IN HIGH DEMAND
PROBLEM NOW IS WHERE THEY ARE
CAUSE THEY’RE LIKE

2 PIGS IN A ROSE BED
OUTTA PLACE BUT HOME BRED
WRONG PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME
WAITING FOR THE LAST TRAIN OUT

GIGGING, WAITING, GETTING, TIRED ANTICIPATING
OUR NEXT STOP, STOP, STOP

SEE THEY CAME FROM MIA
WHERE THERE’RE CLEAR AND SUNNY DAYS
AND IT’S ALL ABOUT THE DANCE
LIKE THE HIPSTERS ON SOUTH BEACH
IT’S A CROWD THEY’LL NEVER REACH
SO THEY’LL NEVER STAND A CHANCE
CAUSE THEY’RE LIKE

SO IT SEEMS SUCH A PITY
THAT THESE TWO FROM THE CITY
WOULD BE SHOOTIN IN THE DARK
BUT THEY’LL HOLD A LITTLE LONGER
TILL THEIR SOULS START TO HUNGER
AND THEY’LL GET THAT SAME OLD SPARK
CAUSE THEY’RE LIKE

SO THAT’S MY STORY
AND THERE’S NOT MUCH GLORY
BUT IT’S NOT WITH SO MUCH SORROW
THOUGH THEY DON’T FIT IN
YOU’LL SEE HEM AGAIN
IF YOU JUST COME BACK TOMORROW
