Bio

If you had one word to describe Meg MacKay, it would be: "busy."

Comedian. Writer. Failed musician. Actress (in air quotes). Meg MacKay has rocked audiences big and small with her mix of high energy absurd humour, and is ready to rock you like a her-icane (note: the artist recognizes this pun is a stretch).

Maritimer-turned-Torontonian, Meg started stand up in New Brunswick in 2011, telling long-winded stories to rural audiences starved for live comedy. There, she co-founded the Fredericton United Comedy Collective (FUCC) with a handful of others, and toured rural towns spreading joy with her band silly pals. Upon moving to Halifax in 2012, she hit the ground running. She co-founded and toured with an all-female comedy collective called That Time of the Month, she was a featured performer at Queer Acts, she wrote and performed in a monthly sketch show called Ghost with a Boner, she ran a weekly stand-up/improv/character show called MegaComedyMondays, she performed at the monthly Geeks versus Nerds live podcast, and performed in a Funny or Die series Community Channel 1.

In 2012 she performed at numerous festivals, most notably the Halifax Pop Explosion, where she opened for Brian Posehn, Sappyfest, where she met Chad van Gallen who said: "I didn't watch you, but I'm sure you were fine", and at the Evolve Festival, where Canadian gem Classfied asked her: "hey, where did you get that pulled pork sandwich?" The sandwich was from the artist's concession tent, and it was delicious.

Equally delicious was her move to Toronto in late 2013, where she has performed at Comedy Bar, Yuk Yuk's, and a myriad of other venues.
