"Girl Power"

Megan Barker isn't touting grrrl power manifestos in her calm, acoustic guitar solo act. She's one of those bleeding heart, soft artists who puts you at risk of blurting out, "Wanna go get a coffee and wear cable-knit sweaters together?" But her song "I Will Let You Go," which sounds exactly how it looks, shows a degree of strength and determination that takes her out of the realm of weepy soloists and into the empowered ladies club. (Oct. 15, Borders Books) - City Life Magazine

Bio

Hi guys! My name is Megan Ashley Barker. Music has always been in my blood. I come from Nashville originally! Music City! (I should have seen the signs.) Mom was a session singer and Dad was a songwriter. I grew up sitting quietly on studio couches sipping yoo-hoos and watching music come to life right before me. I was always fascinated by the process of creating music, but the affect it had on me wasn't clear until I was a bit older.

My parents split up and we moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Flash forward a few years...

I was 13 when I fell in love with a man named John Mayer. Though he wasn't even aware of my existence, we spent all day, every day together for a very long summer. By the end of summer, I had a catalog of songs and callouses on my fingers. I felt complete. Like I'd found whatever had been missing in my life up until that point. (Cheesy, I know.) Five years later, I still can't kick the habit. I've got an even bigger catalog of songs and a nagging urge to play them anywhere and everywhere! You'll find me at coffee shops, festivals, barbecues, local radio stations, and cafes that need someone to bring in business at 10 o'clock at night. I'm all over the place.

Here's a few random and somewhat embarrassing facts about myself. Please enjoy!

-I spend more time in the bathroom than anywhere else in my house. There's great acoustics in my bathroom.
-I don't really have a favorite color because I feel guilty leaving the other colors out.
-I'm not really funny, I'm punny. And I laugh at my jokes more than anyone else.
- If I could, I would live off of enchiladas and strawberry milkshakes.

Anything else you'd like to know about me, just ask! I'm an open book. :)

Thanks guys. You rock.
