“There is nothing as terrifying as witnessing the reincarnation of an old prophet’s soul in a voice of a young artist” – says about Megitza Oslavdo Golijov, Grammy Award Winning Composer. Among the fans of worldbeat and even jazz music, she is considered a true concert revelation. Her music career began in 2008 in Chicago. Since then Megitza has played hundreds of concerts in USA and in Europe.

The singer is gifted with a very strong personality, charisma, great musical talent, and an unearthly Highlander – Gypsy beauty. Megitza sings in multiple languages ??and crosses all musical boundaries. Her recent recordings are primarily in English. The other two albums include Polish, highland dialect language, Romani, Serbian, and Macedonian.

Megitza grabs the audience with her expressive vocals as she plays the upright bass. She is also a composer with her own distinctive and highly original style. The repertoire of her group the listeners will find mostly original compositions by Megitza – inspired the depths of ethnic music, Balkan style, highland and Roma, all infused with jazz, swing, and even rock.

In 2008 Megitza released her debut album “Boleritza” with a more traditional sound. World famous violin virtuoso Roby Lakatos was a guest on this album. “Passionate rhythm and heart rendering vocals” writes New City Music (Chicago).

In the U.S. Megitza collaborated with many exquisite musicians, including the world-famous cymbalom player from Romania – Nicolae Feraru, phenomenal virtuoso of the guitar – Andreas Kapsalis, bayan player – Marek Lichota, and a drummer – James Gallagher. She performed in the Millennium Park in Chicago – Jay Pritzker Pavilion, the Chicago World Music Festival, Old Town School of Folk Music, Chicago Folk and Roots Festival, Lotus World Music and Arts Festival, Chicago Summer Dance Festival, Taste of Chicago, and the Copernicus Theater among many. Megitza is considered a pride of the Polish community in Chicago.

In 2012 her two new albums had their world premiere – “Legenda” and “Megitza” , about which Etnosystem.pl writes – “Legenda ” returns to the echo of the mountain culture. It’s definitely more ethnic music than it’s sister “Megitza”. In the album “Megitza,” Malgorzata Babiarz this time has not referred to her beloved mountain culture – it is a little bit of samba, jazz Chicago style, and of course a handful of Balkan and Gypsy jam.”

Megitza entered the music scene in Poland and Europe in summer 2012. During the two-month tour she has played at The Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the Vienna Jazz Festival in Austria, Klausenbauernhof in Germany, the Polish Festival “Z wiejskiego podworza” in Czeremcha, Muzyczna Owczrnia in Jaworki, in her native Zakopane and in Krakow’s Barka. “Megitza plays and sings with one, specific message: to bring joy , smile and love to the world. Clearly the group functioned as a single organism on the stage, like a speeding machine, that worked together in pulsating rhythmic parts, they raised the room’s temperature by a few degrees. ” – Katarzyna from Etnosystem.pl writes about the concert in Krakow.

Megitza worked with Peter Smolenski and Maciej Michalski, who directed the video for the song from her new album “Megitza -” Beauty Rumelaj.”

After 11 years of living in the U.S. Malgorzata Babiarz has returned to Europe, where she teamed up with Polish musicians who individually have already led successful careers in the field of music: Jaroslaw Dzien (guitar), Jakub Mietla (accordion), Dominik Mietla (trumpet, tuba) and Damian Niewinski (drums).

Megitza released a NEW album – third in 2012 – with Holiday songs from around the world: “Dobra Nowina (Good Message).” A special appearance by Renata Przemyk – a fantastic Polish vocalist and composer, makes this album even more exciting.

In 2013 Megitza is taking part in a Polish Polsat TV Show "Must Be The Music - Tylko Muzyka", and she also has been invited to participate in 2013 TFF Rudolstadt.
