Bio

Meg cannot remember a time when music was not part of her life. From piano lessons at age 5, to belting out Sesame Street songs in concerts for her parents, and dancing through the living room to Beethoven’s 5th, music has been a central piece of Meg’s identity. In 8th grade, during a period of mild obsession with The Beatles, Meg taught herself to play “She Loves You” on her mom’s old guitar, which inspired her for the first time to create her own music.

Being a singer/songwriter is something Meg Smallidge has been quietly pursuing for years now. She has only recently begun to fully explore the Boston music scene and immerse herself in developing an actual musical career. As John Lennon wisely wrote, “The dream you dream alone is only a dream” and Meg is working to make her dream a reality to share the music she’s been creating for a long time.

Meg’s music blends honest lyrics and a soulful style into playful, catchy, and heartfelt songs. Her arrangements call out for an intricate weaving of instruments, poignant words, and harmonies. New to the scene, her performances are fresh and authentic, her stage presence enthusiastic and humble. Meg’s influences range from folk and rock icons like The Beatles, Ani DiFranco, Paul Simon, Tori Amos, Patty Griffin, Elliott Smith, and Josh Ritter to more local, independent talent like Anne Heaton, Rose Polenzani, Will Dailey, and more.
