Bio

My name is Megyn Hermez. I wasn’t born with that name, but somewhere in the midst of my chaotic life I chose to reinvent myself. I’m an artist of many crafts, but music and dancing is what brings me to the spotlight. Before I go any further, I want to acknowledge that most bios are written in third person to make the artist appear untouchable and at a distance. What drives me to become one of the largest artists on the face of this planet is the opportunity to connect with as many people as possible in one lifetime. I don’t believe paying someone to write my story is valid way to connect with my fans and audience members. So hello all, it is a pleasure to be at one with you. I began dancing at 8 years old, and for 10 strait years I trained in a studio for 40 hours a week preparing for an adventurous future on stage. I won national titles every year, and danced for many big names at a young age including Mariah Carey, Jessie McCartney and The Goo Goo Dolls. I dropped out of high school at 16 to pursue this dream. One year later I traveled to Barcelona, Spain where I took 2nd place at the Prix De Espana World Cup Dance Competition with the American Dance Company. And I said to myself, “All things are possible.” Although music was in the background of my life, it would soon become the forefront. At 19 I walked into an audition 20 minutes late, shaming myself of all professionalism. I didn’t know what I was auditioning for so I excused my tardiness. The casting took place in what appeared to be a damn near crime scene, and the fact that it was in Detroit didn’t make it feel any more legitimate. The next day I got a call back. I had cast the part, and I was going to begin dancing for R&B legend Charlie Wilson. I didn’t know who Charlie was, but millions of other people did. I realized that three months later when I found myself dancing on some of the largest stages across the globe. All of this from a craigslist audition. One year into the tour it hit me. I was performing with a national recording artist, my best friends were the band, music was taking over my entire atmosphere, and here I was acting like I didn’t know a note from a chord. I was quiet about my hidden talents as a musician. Nobody knew that I began writing poetry at 9 years old or that I spent my whole life as an alto in the school choir. I connected with the music director on the tour and was offered my first of many record deals three songs into the album. I ignorantly turned down the offer and began this journey of a recording artist in solitude. Today I am the owner of Gypsyland Records. I released my first album Music Is Music in 2013. The album got several placements, and radio play. Steal My Crown was released shortly after and charted on the Mediabase Activator Top 100 charts for 10 strait weeks, just 200 spins shy of the BillBoard Charts. I cut the campaign and decided to go for more of an authentic route with my music. I won’t write about sex, drugs and rock n roll, but I will write about the person who overdosed because of it. My upcoming EP, more, is written from a dark place touching on topics such as depression, adultery and abuse. Some might find it disturbing, but other will find it brilliant. I am an artist, and my product is art, not vanity. I continue to travel the world as a recording artist and dancer, and my mission is to impact for the greater good of humanity. Thank you for reading, I hope you’re inspired.
