Biography

Hailing from the humble hamlet of Roberta, Georgia--population 808--is Meiko, a gifted songbird whose intimate, confessional performances have been attracting a building buzz, both at the burgeoning Hotel Café scene in her adopted home of Hollywood and nationwide.

Her first big break came when Nic Harcourt, Music Director at KCRW Los Angeles and host of the famed “Morning Becomes Eclectic” program, started placing her songs in regular rotation on both “Morning…” and “Sounds Eclectic,” the nationally syndicated version of his signature show.

Then, she received an assist from cyberspace: her self-titled, self-released debut album recently reached #35 on the iTunes Top 100 Albums chart and was the #1 Folk album, totaling well over 200,000 downloads and netting Meiko the “Indie Spotlight” designation. Placement in iTunes’ “Best of 2007” feature and their 2008 “Next Big Thing” spotlight have furthered the momentum.

Meiko played well over 100 gigs in 2007, and this year appearances at Sundance, SXSW and the sold-out Hotel Café Tour are already under her belt.

In addition, her music has been featured in such hit TV series as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Kyle XY” “Moonlight,” and “Good Morning America.” She’s earned rave reviews from über-blogger Perez Hilton, who recently wrote, “If you like singer/songwriters then you will be foaming at the mouth for Meiko.”
