"MeKoBane “The Balance” Malcolm X Tribute (video)"

Just like we told you MeKoBane drops his Malcom X tribute video “The Balance” minutes before Malcom’s birthday. In the video, MeKoBane pays homage to Malcolm X on the steps of The Malcolm X & Betty Shabazz Youth Center (originally the Audubon Ballroom, where Malcolm X was slain) - MCMIreport.com

"MeKoBane's Malcolm X Dedication Video"

Today’s young black males are very different from those of generations past -- heroes such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X have been replaced by the glitz and glamour of rappers and basketball stars. But in the case of Bronx-bred Hip Hop artist MeKoBane, he can't help but be inspired by the story of Malcolm X, having been born right next door to The Audubon Ballroom at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. A graduate of University of Albany, MeKoBane appreciates Malcolm X's transition from a Hustler to an Intellectual, a Leader, a Spokesman, and a devout Muslim. And with Malcolm X's birthday arriving on May 19th, MeKoBane felt a duty to pay homage to Malcolm X with "The Transition," highlighting the beliefs that he represents -- Discipline, Pride, and Love of Self.

"The Transition" represents the struggle of the Young Black Male to find Success as a Gentleman without having to be a "Hustler" or "Thug." In the lead single "The Balance," MeKoBane touches on the Young Black Male's inner battle with "being yourself", and the constant fight between Hustler and Gentleman. In the video, MeKoBane pays homage to Malcolm X on the steps of The Malcolm X & Betty Shabazz Youth Center (originally the Audubon Ballroom, where Malcolm X was shot). The video also contains excerpts from Malcolm X's famous speech, "Who Taught You?". This type of visual from the Hip Hop community hasn't been seen since the days of Public Enemy, with MeKoBane being the FIRST Hip Hop Artist to stand in the very place where Malcolm X was shot. - AllHipHop.com

Bio

From the Mecca of Hip Hop, MeKobane is an artist who is just as original as his name. Adding the word “Me” to Kobane, created a title more so then a name, this action completed his arrival as a Seasoned Artist. “Me” represents his perspective on Life as well as his Goal of reaching somewhere inside, that most rappers don’t. What does that mean? “Be Your Self at All times”, as he states in his single “The Balance” – Always do me / Cause Haters are gonna Damn Ya. What better way to touch your audience then becoming a part of them, whenever someone says MeKobane you are aligning yourself with Kobane by simply stating the word “Me”.

The forth Coming Debut Street Album titled “The Transition” contains 16 tracks (symbolically the number of lines used to create a standard verse) is a representation of movement through Life. Here is a brief run through of some songs and the meaning within the album. “Stars & Stripes” is a patriotic look from a Young Black Males perspective. “The Balance” is a Theme Song for dealing with Haters in your life. “In The Streets” is a look at the reality inner city youth have to deal with. “Writing on The Wall” is about realizing what you subconsciously do to yourself and ”Karma” talks about the rarely noticed Good side of Karma (metaphorically viewing karma as a female). All though the content of the Album is full meaning, it’s far from sounding to conscious or preachy. The selection of Beats and the Catchy Hooks insure the potential of being a Classic Debut album. The Transition drops Friday May 10, 2011 available for Download on Datpiff.com and mekobane.com
