Melanie Pegge’s elegantly crafted Fell Climber feels like the musical equivalent of a watercolour study, an instance of brightness and inspiration, a hopeful grab at something transient yet eternal, less accurate than a photograph but more truthful. The dual voices give the listener a sense that one embodies the private reflections we make to ourselves in secluded places when no one is around and our guard is down. The exquisite plucked classical guitar bolstered by a quietly insistent scraping strum in the distance that suggests sunlight playing on a waterfall in our peripheral vision. A gorgeous moment of a song that is, like so many moments, over too soon. - Fresh on the Net - FreshFaves Batch 304 - Louis Barrabas November 2018

Bio
Melanie Pegge is a dedicated songwriter and crafter of intricate melodies. With gentle sensitivity and deftly executed guitar, she produces intriguing songs, often creating surprising connections between folk, flamenco and classical guitar technique. The exquisite rumblings of a well-loved nylon string guitar are overlaced by whispering vocals, telling stories of lost dreamlands, memories and imaginings. A regular performer in intimate venues across the Midlands, with a back catalogue of albums and releases to explore online.
"Great vocals, virtuoso Spanish guitar, poised intelligent song writing" - Tom Robinson (BBC 6 MUSIC 2017)
Melanie Pegge's latest album Underworld Floods (released March 2020), was recorded in Loughborough with friends and long-time collaborators Chris Thornhill (a drysalter) and Tom Mapes (Stone Dog Studios). The record is a collection of spacious, ghostly songs performed on meandering classical guitar, accompanied by the subtle and mystical improvisation of a drysalter.
