Bio

The “Georgia Peach” with the big voice, Melanie DeVaughn’s is the lead vocalist for the band Attitude. Melanie DeVaughn’s love for music started developing from the age of five. Born and raised in the south, she has deep roots in the church where she was taught soul music, old spiritual hymns, and gospel melodies. As she reached the elementary years, she continued to feed her passion for the art of music by becoming a member of the band where she played the trumpet and was an active member in the school chorus. Melanie DeVaughn’s passion for music continued in high school as she attended Avondale High for Performing Arts where she further fed her artistic musical side with school productions, gospel concerts, and instrumental programs with the band. During the high school years, she was one of the original members of David Walker and High Praise.
In college, of course, it was no surprise that she was a member of the legendary Golden Voices of Tuskegee University as well as the Tuskegee Gospel Choir and a contemporary gospel recording group called the Sounds of Tuskegee. After college, she continued to feed her passion for singing and performing by working with upcoming gospel recording artists singing on a number of projects as a background vocalist. Some of the artists that she has performed with include Brian Wilson, Dottie Peoples, Jonathan Nelson, Stephen Hurd, and Kierra Sheard . She’s also performed on the Bobby Jones Next Generation show, Praise in the Park, Gospel Industry Retreat, National Black Arts Festival, GMWA, Atlanta Gospel Choice Music Awards, and 2008 Gospel Music Awards.

The energetic, sincere, and powerful delivery she presents through her interpretation of music is mesmerizing. She is an amazing vocalist and performer.
