Mel Azul is in the process of reinventing their music, aiming towards other genres that go beyond psychedelic rock. Their new album, "Bonde do Esgoto"(Sewer Gang) travels through rap, funk and pop and portrays a critic yet humored aura that explains their vision of music production/consumption nowadays. Recorded and produced by themselves in their own studio, the album was mixed at Red Bull Studio São Paulo and was released by UIVO Records.
With the newcomers Prodígio (Prodigy) and Dr. Herman taking care of the keys and Moogs respectively, the quintette takes turns while singing in a boisterous manner, creating a certain landscape that is composed by unique characters, monikers, and stories that mix fantasy with reality. The essence of their psychedelia continues present on their instrumentals, carrying unimaginable timbers, and on their lyrics, which call upon social and cultural aspects under their acid vision.
Mel Azul originates from São Paulo, Brazil, circa 2008. The eternal search for timbers has always been present in the band that provided with a huge variety of synths and pedals, are known in the local music scene as creators of unique atmospheres while playing live. Over the last years, they have released an EP, a debut album named "Luz Alem", toured all throughout Brazil in the Hip Rock Gira Brasil Tour that was documented and later on became a web series, and toured through Bolivia(2012 and 2014).
