Bio
Mel Farrimond was raised in Ayrshire, Scotland. Moving to eastern Canada in 1994, she started a career as a university professor and honed her skills as a songwriter on Nova Scotia's salty shores. Mel's upbringing and education bestow on her introspective folk songs a unique refrain, resonating with past experiences and echoing into the future. The full-length release Through The Darkness features Mel's dense lyrical content and songwriting aptitude in harmony with a host of recognizable Halifax musicians, amassing further class and courage to a heartfelt and harbouring debut record. Mel has produced and hosted Songbird (formerly Bluebird) North in Halifax for the Songwriters' Association of Canada. Currently writing up a storm!
