Biography

A twenty-year-old singer-songwriter, Mel has moved her career from her hometown in the San Francisco Bay Area to the city of Boston where she studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Hailed as one of the most promising new artists of the summer, her music has been described as an exposure of ones deepest thoughts, where they are confronted and resolved. Although her musical message is immersive and rich, at the core, she simply lives to write music for the ukulele, piano, voice, and rainy days.

Lyrics

Red

Written By: Mel Hart

Yesterday I stopped to look at the sky
And saw your smiling face.
It must be the air and the smoke everywhere,
Something about this place.

Yesterday is gone;
Tomorrow's finally here.
I'm singing you this song;
It's the only way, my dear.

Tomorrow you'll walk through the forest,
and you'll think about my smile.
You'll laugh in your head and you'll recall what I said,
"I love you for all time."

And suddenly you'll find
that I crawl out of your mind.
And as the sky turns red,
she'll crawl into your bed.

Yesterday I stopped to look at the sky
and saw a single cloud.
I thought that it might be in the shape of your mouth,
but I smiled and laughed it off.

Letter to a Ghost

Written By: Mel Hart

This is my letter to a ghost
before he was robbed of his soul.
In the night, on a plane, dressed in red,
visions of green stuck in his head.

So I arrive at my second home.
Your parents don't notice that I've grown,
but you can taste the sadness on my lips,
and I say, "I hate that I have to tell you this,"

But read the evidence.
Your words are crystal clear.
You're not expecting this.
Oh, how'd we end up here?

In four months, you will no longer exist.
In four months, the one who stole your body will hate me.
In four months, you'll forget I told you this,
and you'll be strong and shining and bright,
and I'll cursing that night on a plane.

So read the evidence.
Your words are crystal clear.
You're not expecting this.
Oh, how'd we end up here?

Oh your head's in your hands and your knees on the ground.
All I can think is, "I love you right now."
And all you keep saying is, "What have I done?
I let it all go and I know I was wrong.
I was wrong."

This is my letter to the ghost.
The one whose heart I miss the most.
When you love someone, show them with your words.
They deserve that much, and you deserve to be heard.

Necromancer

Written By: Mel Hart

You came into my life one winter's day.
Your mesmerizing charm swept me away.
Now your enchanting eyes won't let me be.
I just want them to stop and look at me.

And if I had one wish then it would be
that you would take that wish and wish for me.
When your spellbinding creations touch my eyes,
I can't control the shivers up my spine.

But I remember when you waved and said, "Hey, wait for me,"
and I remember when you laughed when you did things I couldn't see.
My friends are all for it, but you don't have a clue,
so it seems that I got no choice but to write a song for you.

If one day I found your hand in mine,
I would do my best to stop the time.
Even now I'm grasping at memories I can't keep.
But with you I'll remember every second of every week.

'Cus I remember when you waved and said, "Hey, wait for me."
And I remember when you laughed when you did things I couldn't see.
My friends are all for it, but you don't have a clue.
So it seems that I got no choice but to write a song for you.

I find it hard to explain what's on my mind.
Each time I try to the words get left behind.
You never notice the pain that's in my eyes
each time I see you walk by.

But I remember when you told me you couldn't see me now.
And I remember when you said you'd make it up somehow.
My friends are all for it, but you don't have a clue.
So it seems that I got no choice but to write a song for you.

Stars

Written By: Mel Hart

The sun, the earth, the sky
somehow all aligned,
and brought me to you.
And distance is a jerk,
but I'll try and stretch my heart.
Just remember, we're looking at the same stars.

You said it would be soon,
but I can't trust you.
So until soon comes along,
I'll stare at the stars.

And you say you're not special,
but if you weren't special,
I wouldn't write this song.

As weeks fade into months,
I'll forget, forget so much, but

I won't, I won't forget you.
No, I can't, I can't forget you.
'Cus if I do,
I'll stare at the stars,
and remember the nights
with you by my side,
when things felt so right,

with you.
With you.
With you.
With you.
