Bio
Melika is a singer/songwriter whose music is flavored with accents of soul, blues, country, and gospel music. Melika grew up in rural Arkansas in a region that is considered the Mississippi Delta. The Mississippi Delta is a region in which some of the world's most famous Blues artist came from. Therefore, blues music is in the fiber of Melika's DNA. She grew up listening to Al Green, Bobby "Blue" Bland, BB King, Isaac Hayes, Roberta Flack, Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight. Her music is a tribute to her musical upbringing and these artist and more influence her vocal style. As a songwriter, Melika writes from her core, her heart. Her goal is to write songs that inspire and connect to the hearts of others. She performs in the same way. Melika believes that each phrase and every emotion is important in order for her songs to connect to the listener. Melika's vulnerability allows her heart to be exposed. She doesn't mind because her goal is to help to bring healing to others' hearts.
