Bio
A brief bio about Melissa Montgomery:
Monty a.k.a Melissa Montgomery
is a country singer/songwriter who grew up in a small town outside of
Oklahoma City and began singing at the age of nine and writing,
recording, and performing at the age of 15. She has won numerous awards
such as the Horizon Award at the Oklahoma Opry, Colgate Country
Showdown state winner, and was voted OCMA Female Vocalist and
Entertainer of the year. Melissa made her national television debut as a contestant on CBS's Star Search. Naomi Judd, who served as a judge, said "Melissa's got commercial appeal." She has opened up for headlining acts including Steve Holy and Clay Davidson.
With influences from her love of country and classic rock she began
writing her own material. Her first song called "Someday" was recorded
in the studio at the Oklahoma Opry, where she performed regularly.
Shortly after, she began recording radio and television commercial
jingles with such companies as Chevrolet, Bank First, and Channel 43 in
Oklahoma City all written by Ryan Bellgardt, who in return produced
several of her first originals. In 2004, Melissa decided to move to Nashville
and form a band called Upside of Envy and in 2008 they released their
EP "Full Bloom" which was featured on The Oxygen Channel. She then
began collaborating with writers and producers in Nashville
to pitch and record her own material. She is currently enjoying
playing with her band of friends that are also writers, doing demo work,
and recording songs that best describe her feelings about love and her
journey of life.
