"Melissa Clark at Bookhounds Plus"

Singer-songwriter Melissa Clark of Hamilton, New York, will perform at Book Hounds PLUS, 4031 Main Street, Chincoteague on Saturday, May 14th, beginning at 7:00 pm as part of the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance 2nd Saturday Art Stroll.

Melissa Clark brings a combination of memories and dreams in her presentation of songs remembered as well as her self-expression via original songs. This blend brings listeners back to earlier days through covers of songs originally sung by Elvis, the Beatles, Sam Cooke, Carole King, Van Morrison or Johnny Cash as well as more current recordings by Mary Chapin Carpenter, Marc Cohn, Lucinda Williams and John Prine. Her husky voice and amazing acoustic guitar playing bring those memories to life in creative ways.

A helping of her original songs may include songs of self-reflection on every day life in the 21st Century. “The Key” connects with many audiences with lyrics haunting and familiar, “Heart of a Champion”, “Time Machine” and “A Little Time” each take a slightly different perspective on post-modern times. “It’s Only Me” departs from her usual work in a very unique manner, drawing one into the role of a caretaker of an elderly parent. As her songs take us on their paths, her originals connect to their roots, traces of the artists and music influencing Melissa peeking through here and there.

Chris and Robin invite you to come on down to Book Hounds PLUS and hear Melissa play. As usual, all events at Book Hounds PLUS are free of charge, all ages are welcome and light refreshments will be served. Melissa will have CDs for sale and will welcome requests from the audience, too!

"6 OTS' "Local Talent Night" Features Melissa Clark"

Melissa G. Clark of
Hamilton, plays acoustic
guitar and covers the classics:
classic rock, jazz,
blues, and folk in a flat and
finger picking method. In
her own original music,
however, all these genres are
cleverly woven together and
she sings them in a clear
voice with an easy-going
style. Melissa’s unique
melodies may haunt you and
her pointed lyrics will make
sense and may deeply move
you. Add her strong rhythms
and you won’t be able to
keep your feet still. - Evening Sun - Norwich, NY
