Lyrics

You're Gone

Written By: Melissa Crispo,John Marsden

I leave the light on, the key’s in the door and I’m wide awake, pacing these floors.
Look out the window, count the cars driving by and not one is yours
I’ve been counting these turns on this ceiling fan over my head while I’m lying in bed
I’ve been searching for reasons of why I believed when you said this would never end
But you’re gone. And I’m lying here all alone
And I cannot believe that you’d ever deceive me
When did your heart turn to stone
Yea you’re gone. All I’ve got are these memories
Of you holding me tight, making everything right
Why did you ever leave.
I was patient and quietly waiting for something to turn out right
In those first days, you were oh so endearing and nothing could stand in our way
But you found something new and now I can see this is true, cause she took you away
I’ve been searching for reasons of why I believed when you said this would never end
But you’re gone. And I’m lying here all alone
And I cannot believe that you’d ever deceive me, when did your heart turn to stone
Yea you’re gone. All I’ve got are these memories
Of you holding me tight, making everything right, why did you ever leave
Eight more hours until the morning comes
When I’ll get up, try to move on, try to forget
All the love that is gone and my heart is now torn
From those three words you shouldn’t have said
Yea….. you’re gone. And I’m lying here all alone
And I cannot believe that you’d ever deceive me
When did your heart turn to stone
Yea you’re gone. All I’ve got are these memories
Of you holding me tight, making everything right
Why did you ever…why did you ever leave

Tomboy

Written By: Melissa Crispo

Never really was too much into playing house
Making wedding veils or painting finger nails
Never really wanted that fairy tale world
With lipstick and high heels, I just wasn’t that girl
Trying hard to fit in wherever I’d be
Always kept on thinking, what’s wrong with me
Skinned knees, climbing trees, playing with the boys was fine by me
Fishing poles and g.i joes, only wearing that shirt cause mom said so
Growing up poor, no I was never bored
I’m a New York redneck, tomboy
Spent too much time thinking why I was so different
Too many years wasted just trying to change it.
Now I don’t have to try so hard to be something I’m not
This is how I was made, like it or not
Skinned knees, climbing trees, playing with the boys was fine by me
Fishing poles and g.i joes, only wearing that shirt cause mom said so
Playing every sport, building tree forts
I’m a New York redneck, tomboy
I’m sorry momma don’t cry
I know it’s not what you planned
That pretty little girl you dreamt of well, here I am
With skinned knees, climbing trees
Doing everything my big brother could
Fishing poles and g.i joes
Only wearing that shirt cause you said so
Bike trails, a hammer and nails, skateboard ramps and football champs
Ripped jeans, tire swings, skipping rocks and atv’s
I’m a New York redneck, tomboy
