Melissa Ehrhardt

Melissa Ehrhardt’s journey began in a land far away, up north in the good ole U.S. of A. She grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and spent weekends in Mexico drinking mucho Coronas. Her childhood dream was to move Down Under - the continent of kangaroos, koalas and wonder. She eventually ended up in the land of G’days, but had many detours along the way.
She joined the Peace Corps and moved to Romania, volunteering in vampire territory, that’s right, Transylvania. Across Europe Melissa continued to roam, never quite knowing where she would call home. Santorini, Greece, was the most memorable spot for it was here that she met her husband, Scott. A sailor on holiday, but not an American, fate intervened, and so he’s Australian. Went to grad school, got a Master’s Degree, she and Scott eloped in Las Vegas, 2003.
They are currently stationed in Jervis Bay, where kangaroos hop and dolphins play. Their children consist of Gidget and Phoenix, two Malteses with which they have few disagreements. Melissa continues to volunteer, teach English and write, while enjoying the life of an officer’s wife. Counted among her favourite pastimes are creating songs with lyrics that rhyme. Her advice to you: pursue your dream, no matter how strange at the time it may seem. Destiny has a way of sorting things out, just think positively if ever in doubt.
Melissa Ehrhardt is proof that dreams do come true, it worked for her, it can work for you. Far and wide she did roam, this American girl now call’s Australia home.
