Over the past 11 years, Mel Fraser has carved a place for
herself in the Brisbane music scene, playing bass in various
rock bands.
She has recently taken a giant step forward to centre front, and
Is paving her way around the world as a singer/
songwriter and recording artist.
As a live performer, you can expect anything from a 4 piece
rockin’ arrangement, to an intimate acoustic solo set, frequently
teaming up with her father Steve Fraser. Her new band ‘The Fine Lines’consists of local Brisbane music frequenters Fred Noonan, Kylie Lovejoy, Jeff Lovejoy, Mick Medew and Sabrina Lawrie.
With the release of her album Crooked Purple Lines, Mel Fraser
has distilled the potential so many have seen and heard
throughout her career.
The varied styles on Crooked Purple Lines perfectly showcase the talents of this multi-instrumentalist. Mel’s remarkable voice spans heaven and hell, often in the space of a single song, taking cues from artists such as PJ Harvey, Chrissy Hynde, and Johnette Napolitano.
Producer of the album Darek Mudge, has nailed it.
Performances in France and the USA have resulted in
international radio play, and repeat invitations to return to performin the near future.
Locally, Mel Fraser also has local support from BayFM 101.2
(songs “Maybe May,” “No Man,“ and “Devil”) and from 4ZZZ .
These days, she's hanging her hat in Brisbane and taking advantage of the amazing and thriving music scene that Brisbane is becoming famous for.
