"Significant Digits CD Review"

"Original music mixed with fun and energy is a rare find, but one can find it on the Significant Digits album. It made me feel as if I was on a tour of Texas music, past, present, and future. I would suggest it to anyone who isn't afraid to venture out of their own musical boundaries." - Rank and Revue Red River Magazine, Misty Sweet

"Songsalive! at Ruta Maya"

"The Songsalive! Showcase tonight, as always, was a great night. It’s so fun to discover new talent, hear great music, and relax. Melissa is a great hostess."

"Unique style and tonal quality"

"Solo Style CD review"

Powerful solo performance by a powerful female solo star.
Melissa nails her passion in this beautiful and strong recording of her solo work. The songs are written well and have a knack for sticking in my head! I am certain there is much more to come from this little fire ball.....
- Christine Young

"Austin Chronicle reviews Solo-Style"

"Melissa Mullins offers neo-folk in a rock vein...her thoughtful, sometimes plaintive style is sweetly underscored by tough songwriting that embraces her boundless world..." - Austin Chronicle

"You've got something unique. Your lyrics are real and heartfelt, and your music comes from the heart. I wish you all the best." - Sarah Bettens -

"Solo-Style Reviewed by"

"Melissa shares her soulful lyrics and simplistic acoustic sound with unbridled guts. The raw and lonely sound is a fantastic effort for a first release. Definitely an artist to watch grow."

"200% at every show"

Melissa has always given at least 200% at every show. She has the heart of a singer-songrwriter and the soul of a Rocker. Each time we see her, it shows that she’s a performer par excellence. Now she’s got a band that we need to see!

"Very Innovative"

"This is very innovative stuff. It's very interesting and there has got to be a place for this somewhere. Keep playing and innovating - there will be a place for this music."
- Four Corners Folk Festival - submission reply

"Tower of Talent"

"I recently saw Melissa Mullins perform in a Songsalive! showcase at New York City's legendary Bitter End. If the Big Apple ever has a shortage of electricity in the future, we should import Melissa from Austin to light up our lives.
Don't be fooled by her height; Melissa is a tower of talent."

The sweetest gifts oftentimes arrive through great challenges and changes.
Melissa (formerly Mullins) and Matthew DeOrazio met in Austin in 2005 at a Songsalive! music showcase that Melissa was hosting and organizing.

Melissa lived in Austin since ’95, and was active in the music community, performing as well as organizing music showcases such as Writers Who Rock, Songsalive!, and GoGirlsMusic Fests. Melissa was a solo performer at the time, although she had experience with previous band incarnations.
Matthew, a proficient and prolific musician, had been performing since his teens, and was based in New Orleans. He was in flux, still reeling from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Through a series of shifts, tides, and turns post-Katrina, Matthew ended up moving to Austin, reluctant to leave home, but looking toward the future.

Soon after, the two began collaborating musically and began to forge a great sound and friendship. After spending a great deal of time recording and touring together as band mates, the two found a bond much deeper than ever anticipated. Marriage and a move back to New Orleans turned a new leaf for the couple on many levels.

They perform together as ‘Melissa On The Rocks’, with Melissa on vocal and guitar and Matthew on drums and guitar.

‘Wiser Cause’ is the title of their upcoming full-length release, scheduled for summer 2008. Elements of classic rock and punk are threaded into the original songwriting, filling the space with sound, while giving the songs enough space to move and groove. The record was recorded and engineered in Austin by Matthew. Mixing and production by Gilli Moon and Matt Thorne in Burbank, California.
