Mellika

Mellika

BandPopSinger/Songwriter

Mellika is the hottest female sensation to hit the scene. Her charismatic style and voice are an entity that cannot go unnoticed. Her name is derived from the Arabian word for "queen". Listening to her music, you'll find a mixture of styles: Pop, R`n`B and Jazz, touched by a breeze of desert wind.

Biography

Born under the "royal sign" of Leo, she's born into two worlds, as she's the child of an Algerian father and a German mother.

Growing up in a little town in the South-West of Germany, she's been singing since she could barely talk. She wrote her very first song at the age of ten by improvising lyrics and melody over one of her father's meditation cassettes. Well, the beats became rougher and the lyrics became more mature, but the method still works.
By the age of eleven, she started to dance: jazzdance, hip hop and funk, and started to dance professionally at the age of 17.
She worked for stablished and successfull artists and acts like Garcia and Sarah Connor and on the way she stepped into the pop-szene.

Aware of the strong need to express herself, searching for the right playground to play on, she started to experiment with acting, trying out different styles of dance.

She learned to play the piano, took singing lessons, and along the way she met a great voice teacher and vocal coach, who became her co-songwriter and producer for the start.

Although she asures that her heart beats for popmusic, she found great response in the local jazz scene for her style of singing and her absolute dedication to music. Sessions and collaborations with experienced and established jazz musicans helped her to develop the courage to work out a unique style of her own.

And here we are. Now Mellika's stepping out, with her debut as a solo artist.

Like many in her generation, Mellika was heavily influenced by Hip Hop and R&B.
But listening to her music, you'll find a mixture of different styles, always touched by a breeze of desert wind. As she never denied her arabian roots.

Escape

Escape

When you feel, you've got nothing that really means hey anything
And when you think, that loving means to dissapear, I disagree
But you don't leave, when you should leave
and you don't care oh what it means to me
But you don't see, that usually,
I dont'really feel hey anything, when you're kissing me

Back up, back up, you should have gone to...

Don't you ?

CHORUS:
I don't feel alive
I don't feel alive
I should go and find something I would like to share with you
Escape to find back to you

When emptiness is filling me
I get to see
That there's no rule to the game
I feel the stream repeating endlessly,
Surrounds around me, without any peaks out of the frame
Honestly, I don't feel treated like queen, treated like the one you decided for

...Anymore

Back up, back up, you should have gone to...

Closer than you think is good for you

I don't feel alive
I don't feel alive
I should go and find something
I would like to share with you
Gotta get away from you 'cause

I don't feel alive
I don't feel alive
I don't feel alive,
wish that I could find
One thing I love about you
Escape to find back to you

Break Free

Break Free

They put me in this hole
Hid me from the world outside
Ashamed of myself
Decided that my best is not worth a dime
Imprisoned by my thoughts and imprisoned by their words

Oh they're telling me
How I should be
They want me to be
The way they see me
But ey,

She's a god, a goddess and a queen
She's free to love 'cause love is free
Fall down and pray on your knees for love

Break Free
Freak Out Now
Break Free
Freak Out Now

Break free, freak it out now
Aah

I came slowly crawlin' out
I came crawling out (of) that hole
aah
Needed time to get much stronger
Now you see me walking tall
Now it's face to face, face to face

Oh, they fight with me,
They scream at me
They act friendly
Just to get with me, because...

...
She's a god, a goddess and a queen...
...
