Bio

Mello-Mar, A.P.G. (bio.)

A true Bay Area Rap pioneer is back. You might remember Mello-Mar as the leader of the “A.P.G. crew”, hailing from the Oakland Bay area back in 1988/89. Previous releases include the twelve inch single, “Straight Through/Comin’ Harder”, the album’s, “On The Rise”, and “Oaktown’s Finest”, the maxi-single, “Say Goodbye to A.P.G”, and the last crew album, “See The Light” (1998). Mello-Mar has hit the independent scene again with his best work yet. The latest release, solo album, “Back In Action”, promises to give you your money’s worth. It’s Bay Area Hip-Hop with many influences. This is the first time this rapper has incorporated the production of multiple producers on one project. Displaying diverse styles in both production and lyrical delivery, this artist, and his new album have a little something for every Rap, Hip-Hop, or party and fun type music fan. Hard hittin’ songs like “Pound for Pound”, and “Still Packin’ With Action”, will knock hard in a car or club. Songs like “It’s About That Time”, and “Hot To Trot”, will get the party movin’. On a more R&B/Hip-Hop tip, songs like “Submerged In The Game”, and “Watcha Goin’ Through”, might be more to your liking. Mello-Mar prides himself on being an independent artist who has never signed a major labor deal. APG crew came out of Oakland in the late 80's, right off of the heals of Too Short and M.C. Hammer. Debuting with other Bay Area acts such as, Digital Underground and Paris, to name a Couple. When people talk about selling records out of the trunk, he was one of the first, back in 1988. After being inspired by someone who he once inspired, he's back again, but this time recording on his newly established label, Big Boot Music, Mello-Mar will be on the scene for a long time to come. Still a true performer with a strong fan base, and still able to put on a power-packed (or should I say “action-packed“) show. Take a little time to listen to some of the tracks on the album, I’m sure you will find something that will make your head bob, or want to jump in your car and ride. Be on the look-out for more music on the Big Boot Music label.
