Bio

On a cold winter evening in the little town of Kirkland Lake Ontario is where it all began. Mellow Lily, (also known as Kathryn Nemcsok) was born in a small northern ontario town, where her passion for music began. She started out by playing piano, and voice training with her music teacher Karen Macgreggor. From there, Nemcsok spread her wings, and began singing on her own, and writing her own songs. When she was 16, she picked up the guitar for the first time, and instantly fell in love. Nemcsok prides herself on relatable lyrics, and intimate acoustic shows with an interaction with her audience. "I enjoy actually getting to know the people I sing for, because they are the ones I write my songs for. There is no bigger compliment than having someone say one of your songs reached out to them."

Nemcsok has competed in numerous competitions all over Ontario, winning gold at many music festivals, as well as the distinguished vocalist award for the Northern Ontario Music Festival. She prides herself on the many awards she has won, though her favourite accomplishment to date is qualifying for the 2012 country singing showdown in Kingston Ont. sponsored by Kingston's local country station, Kix 93.5. In December of 2012, Nemcsok also qualified for a chance to sing on stage with Canadian artist, Jason McCoy.

Although relatively new to the Kingston music scene, Nemcsok had made a name for herself in the city of North Bay. She played many benefit concerts, open mic nights, and events in the city, and in 2011, she was invited to play live on air on one of the local radio stations, "the Moose" 96.3 FM. Her live performance included 4 songs, and it was also aired live on the local Cogeco station. Nemcsok was also featured on a one hour local musician highlight on the moose, which earned her regular radio air time. Nemcsok explains, "Of all the accomplishments I have made so far, radio air time is the coolest! It is sort of weird hearing yourself on the radio, and realizing that is a creation that YOU made! It made me really happy!"

In July of 2010, Nemcsok released her 5 song EP "Infinite Night Stand," produced by Quickstar Productions in Kingston Ont. The EP features 5 original songs, three of which were featured on Moose FM in North Bay.

Now settled in the city of Kingston, she has already started working her way into the music scene, playing shows in the city and the surrounding area. Her music has been aired on an online podcast called Saltwater Music, and Nemcsok is anticipating numerous shows throughout the year.

"I am hoping to really reach out to the Kingston area, and establish a good name for myself! I really do love the stage, and I love having an audience in front of me!" Nemcsok has high hopes for the future, and many goals, including releasing a new EP in the spring of 2013. Her ultimate goal is to obtain a record contract, but until that happens, she keeps her eyes to the stars. as Mellow Lily says, "give me a stage, and an audience, and I am the happiest person in the world!"
