Mellowfield

Mellowfield are based in Asheville, NC and Charleston, SC. Mike and Richard started as enemies, grew to tolerate each other and decided to work together after completing other projects in the late 2000s. Mike's main influences are based more in the alt rock, electronic and shoegazer wreckage of the 90s and 2000s. Richard is versed in the strangely complimentary areas of Metal and Avant Sound art, with a touch of Post Rock sensability.

The music featured on Mellowfield's current LP, "The Last Dawning of the New Age", coveres a range of emotions and subjects around the central theme of the so called "end of time". There are a number of tracks that could be considered as rock or pop singles yet the album is glued together with many of the band's sound /music experiments . The textures explored by the band include rock structures mixed with electronic, jazz and experimental elements. Their music ranges from sublime ambience, to poignant pop, to balls-out heavy rock. This is a band not easily catagorized.

That being said, the guys have a huge range of influences, including but not limited to: My Bloody Valentine, The Beatles, Broadcast, Scott Walker, Godflesh/Jesu, J Dilla, John Cage, Blur, Kasabian, The Vaccines, The Pink Floyd, John Coltrane, Gary Numan, Jimi Hendrix, Interpol, Miles Davis, Radiohead, Mad Lib, Alice In Chains, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Iron Maiden, DANGERDOOM, Black Sabbath, The Flaming Lips, Air, Public Enemy, Velvet Underground, Debussey, Ministry, Taylor Deupree, Kyuss/QOTSA, Shuttle 358, Love And Rockets, New York Dolls, Motion, David Bowie, Alva Noto, NWA, Sex Pistols, Brian Eno, Led Zep, Aphex Twin, Burt Bacharach and of course, DethKlok.

Mellowfield are willing to go to the ends of the Universe and beyond to bring their music to as many people as possible. This is no idle threat, it is merely fact.
