Chicago, Illinois has always been home to some of the best music around and Menacerno are no exception to that rule. This frantic pop rock fueled band has created a five song EP of some excellent hooks and catchy lyrics that are sure to please.
“Up In Arms” starts off easy, with a simple spoken word lead in before the instrumentation comes crashing in like a wave. Vocalist Maggie O’Keefe (also song co-writer) has a powerful voice right off the bat, and the lyrics are carried by the exceptional riffs of guitars Peter Neumer and Brian Matson. With Matthew Buckingham on the drums and Joe Martinez on bass the timing is great and the song moves along with melodic energy. “Cold Hello” and “No Matter What” both show off what Menacerno have to offer, which is a driving pop hooks and well written lyrics carried by some excellent riffs and percussion.
Menacerno are a powerful group, with catchy lyrics and a great lead vocalist to deliver the lyrics with passion in every song. The instrumentation is energetic and never falters in delivery, from the guitars working in tandem to the bass and drums moving the songs along with ease every piece of Menacerno’s work is carefully put together. It is hard to define a band that features as many elements as this one does, let alone a band that does them all so well. The do not fit into any one category with ease, yet the move through several in each song. The EP has some excellent production value, and the time and energy put into every track is clear. This is a group for fans of well crafted lyrics, exceptional percussion work (from both bass and drums) and some memorable guitar riffs. Earlier this month Menacerno released two singles, "Kicks" and "Up In Arms". Both tracks demonstrate the quality and energy that the band has to offer. Lead by the driving vocals of Maggie O'Keefe, Menacerno is definitely a band to watch. - Deli Magazine

Rooted in the traditions of rock-and-roll with a modern edge, Menacerno features the ethereal, but powerful vocals of Maggie O'Keefe over the intertwining guitars of Brian Matson and Peter Neumer. Recently identified as "...definitely a band to watch" by Deli Magazine . Menacerno formed in 2014 when O'Keefe joined Matson, Neumer, and drummer James Minor II. The Chicago-based band filled out its lineup in 2015, adding bassist Joe Martinez, and subsequently recorded its first two singles, "Up In Arms" and "Kicks," currently available for streaming on Soundcloud and Bandcamp.
Menacerno has quickly gained recognition in the Chicagoland area, winning Deli Magazine's October 2015 Artist of the Month contest after being featured in a new music showcase at the House of Blues. The band, whose combination of driving guitar riffs and haunting, evocative melodies has been compared to The Cranberries and Sonic Youth, will be making its first studio recordings in February 2016 and issued its first EP in Summer 2016. Menacerno continues to perform in the Chicago area with upcoming show at The Cubby Bear.
