Mentira Mentira

‘‘Intense’’, ‘‘a show where you never know what’s going to happen’’ and ‘‘the most powerful act Monterrey has to offer’’ are some of the words fans and music nerds have used to describe Mentira Mentira’s unique sound and brutal live performances.

Born in Tijuana; now living in Mexico City, Mentira Mentira’s frontman and only member Gaby has been called “a true force of nature” and a “rock music showman”.

And this nicknames aren’t there without a reason; MM has played across Mexico in most of the landmark D.I.Y. venues along the country, in cities such as Guadalajara, Monterrey, Mexico City, Tijuana (where the crowd actually punched and bottled Gaby after a long rant about leaving hometown), and the United States, playing in front of drug fuelled kids in cities such as Boston, New York, San Diego and L.A.

In 2011, Mentira Mentira teamed with Nene Records and Vale Vergas Discos (the two most popular and respected netlabels in MX) and released their first collection of tracks under the name of “MEANINGMORE’‘ (LP) and “GASOLINE” (EP); gaining a lot of critical acclaim and a strong cult following.

Now, this 2012 Mentira Mentira is back with their first official full length album, called “NO WAY OUT”, available online for free. Since the first second the album went out, it was a complete surprise for press and fans, both naming ‘NWO’ their most authentic sound at the moment. To promote the record, MM recorded a video for ‘‘Legs’’, directed by Gaby himself.

Mentira Mentira has shared stage with bands such as Fucked Up, Girls, Davila 666, Acid Mothers Temple, Andrew W.K., Grimes, Dan Deacon, Neon Indian, Das Racist, Toro y Moi, Teengirl Fantasy, Male Bonding, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Liturgy, Astro, El Columpio Asesino, among many others.
