Merc The Big Body Benz

26 year old Merc The Big Body Benz, formerly known as Young Merc, is a Queens Native. Mercedes Barnes, better known as Merc (pronounced Merce), is a mother, wife and wicked warrior emcee. Influenced by an older cousin, Merc began rapping at age 10 and has yet to put her pen down.  She has spent the last two years performing all over New York City at venues such as Lit lounge, R Bar, Revolution Bar, Hail Hail Bar, Action Burger, The Paperbox, The Delancey, Kings County Saloon, Bohemian Grove, Skate Brooklyn and Vape Supply Company to name a few. She has collaborated with man talented artists and producers such as Path P, Crimdella a.k.a. Black Zeusx of Black God Pantheon, Brooklish of Cyph Squared, Brittany Campbell, Juxx Diamondz, Hellz Yeah, Myth Muzik, Thre3, Tony Mirabella and Chris Prythm. Merc released Big Body Benz The Mixtape in December of 2009 on reverbnation. Shortly after that she decided to allow music to take a backseat while she and her husband struggled to start a family and grieve for the losses they had suffered, all the while honing her craft and evolving mentally, emotionaly and spiritually. The couple welcomed a son into the world in November of 2014 and Merc has spent the last year writing non stop. Belated Vol.1 is the first in a series of mixtapes that are "long over due". It is said to be released this spring. Merc also has an EP with Path P and her own LP in the works.
