Mekko signs G.I. Entertainment / The Arsenal to major distribution deal. This will be their first label deal in the Gospel Hip Hop genre. The first artist will be Mercenary 6 with his debut album entitled "My Testimony; A Prepared Soul by M.K. Lawson". This is a big step for Mekko Chivon considering that this will be there first promotion of urban gospel. "It's actually a blessing to be part of a company that only did secular retail and now we're their first gospel company. Not many other companies gave me a chance but, now i'm part of a successful team that will grow," said M.K. Lawson, CEO of The Arsenal. "all i can do is put the business in God's hands and have him carry it out to a good outcome." - RAPZILLA
Once again Merc 6 will be ministering at the 2006 Holy Hip Hop Awards in January @ Earthlink Arena in ATL, GA. His sophmore album 'The Point of No Return' will be promoted and for sell at that time. Bio
Mercenary 6 was born Maurice Lawson on August 20, 1979 in the edge of the East Bay Area in a small town called Pittsburg, CA. He had hip-hop influences like E-40, Spice 1, 2 Pac, OutKast, and Twista. He listened to these rappers so much he ended up with a similar style but decided to give it a gospel twist. Maurice decided to go by the name Mercenary 6 because he felt he was sent to teach the truth and to receive his reward, which is everlasting life. The album is more focused on relationship and not religion as well as the whole ministry. He wants the world to know Christ forgives and will love you as long as you accept him as your savior.
