"Mercenaries Don't Worry About It"

Far from uninteresting or of no further use, the combined stream-of-consciousness growling and dexterous musicianship of these self-admitted "washed-up dudes making music" on Don't Worry About It is interestingly jagged and obtuse. In truth, hearing these fives songs, it's their most redeeming factor. No, it doesn't seem incredibly difficult to unite the frenetic tendencies of Psyopus with Dillinger Escape Plan's hyperactive jazz-hardcore but doing it well is something else altogether. Mercenaries? They do it incredibly well, even when they do veer off into some trying artiness even Black Flag would have avoided in their later years. Much of Don't Worry About It is inspired, well engineered and stirring, making fresh use of some well-worn influences.

Bio

Mercenaries formed in March 2010 as a group of childhood friends who created a brand of music that crosses the lines of traditional hardcore punk – with frantic and fast-paced metal.

The result -- a cross between Tennessee’s Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza and Atlanta’s The Chariot.

“We’re really just a bunch of dudes who like to hang out and make terrifying music,” Michael Burton said – vocalist of Mercenaries.

“The way we perform, the way we are live we make sure everyone knows that our healthcare is free,” bass player Kris Chaput said.

The live show is – for the lack of a better word, incredibly intense.

Clean, crisp, and loud hardcore that punches the face of those watching.

Mercenaries released their first EP entitled Don’t Worry About It- and quickly signed onto Feast or Famine Records. The five-song release was given away for free via MySpace – and was recorded by close friend Salvatore Guaiana at Paragon Studios.

What’s next is a full-length record currently being written by the boys - which will be released by Feast or Famine next summer.

These childhood friends are excited to take on whatever the industry can throw at them, and are planning on writing music that will make all lovers of aggressive music jump out of their skin.

With support from companies such as Chicago’s Emperor Cabinets, California’s TRX Cymbals and Guelph’s Defacto Drums – Mercenaries is lined up to make a big impact on the Canadian, and American music scene.
