"MercyKill Throw The Switch"

The new EP by Mercykill is a throwback to the thrash metal, not like Demiricous who worship Slayer, Mercykill pay homage to Testament, Exodus, Dark Angel and Max era Sepultura.

This 6 song EP flys by at only 18 mins!!!!!! But trust me you get your metal fill with each and every song, the music is brutal and fast, the vocals are filled with hatred and rage and even some guttural growls by Jake Corbin that leave you wanting more (exactly what an EP should do).

The musicianship is tight and just structured enough to not be too complicated (This is Thrash metal folks) just the right chugga chugga and breakdowns, the drumming by Sean Young is pretty much nonstop, I couldn't keep up with the guy in my air drumming, Jeremy Varo and Scott Bronner (who also recorded and mixed this heavy bastard) switch leads on Beyond The Mirror and Two Dimemsions to remind you of Alex Skolnik and Eric Peterson of Testament, which is a very good thing, Thunderous bass held down by Larry Langley fits nicely, just wish it was pushed up a little more.

Only negative thing I have to say is Jake's vocals on Jihad and Two Dimensions were a little too much on the guttural growls that it really took away from the song, I wished he would of used the same vocal stylings as on the rest of the disc especially Correctional Rehabilitaion and Beyond The Mirror.

All that aside, a VERY nice release by some local boys showing their love for thrash metal, check them out on Myspace at: Myspace or their own website at: Official Site - Irratebass www.indymetal.com

"MercyKill Throw The Switch"

Saddle up, partners. You’re in for a rare ride Indianapolis experiences only when the rodeo comes to town. This EP bleeds with the same anger, ferocity and unpredictability of a one-ton, bucking horned beast, yet the only difference here is that from beginning to end, there’s no “bull” to be found.

From intricate melody runs to half-time breakdowns, “Throw the Switch” is a clear-case example of how a death metal recording should sound—crisp, solid, tight and to the point. The musicality holds the precision and steadiness of a machine while the songs themselves revolve around an axis of natural and fluid evolution.

Cuts such as “Correctional Rehabilitation” and “Behind the Mirror” set the tone for a dark expression of lonely self-examination and nonconformity. However, the breaks and turnarounds give the listener just enough breathing time to recover from the lyrical seriousness of the subject matter.

If the full-length album follows suit as an extension to this EP, the future’s wide open for the boys of MercyKill, as well as the doors to most any venues brave enough to host their live show. - Jesse Reddington www.indymusicscene.com

"MercyKill Throw The Switch"

I saw news of this release on Indymetal.com last month and from all accounts it was going to shred. The reports did not lie. This album absolutely rips, tears AND shreds. Think of an excellent meld of Morbid Angel, the progressive strains of Chuck Schuldiner and some killer solo work that resembles those from King Diamond's "Them"...and you'll have an idea of what MercyKill sounds like. Even then, you will not be prepared for the utter POWER that emanates from this white-hot disc that burned my fingers as well as my mind.

The package that comes in the mail is slick, with clearwrap and glossy insert they kick mucho ass in the music department. This release left me waiting for more. Look for great things from these guys in the future. - Micheal Griffey

"MercyKill Throw The Switch"

Indianapolis Metal is putting itself firmly on the map one band at a time. MercyKill is an extremely welcome addition to the awesomeness of the scene in Indiana. "Throw The Switch" is perfect on so many levels. There's the music, obviously. Very fast, very heavy. Technical as hell, especially when it comes to solos. Slick harmony leads and jaw dropping trade-off solos are trademark for MercyKill and they are lethal with precise skill. This 6 song cd is packaged beautifully; cool artwork, band pics and lyrics. These guys are tight as hell, with amazing bass and drum skill. The riffs are brutal and infectious. The vocals will melt the paint off your walls. You just can't go wrong when it comes to MercyKill. Visit them at the official MercyKill website at www.mercykill.org or check them out on MySpace. KILLER band, buy this cd and FOR THE LOVE OF FUCK SEE THEM LIVE!!!!!!!! - Seeds Of Evil

Bio

MercyKill are a five piece, all original, extreme metal band based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. The brainchild of guitar phenom Scott Bronner, MercyKill began the quest for all out world domination in the summer of 2005. Starting with the Midwestern United States, MercyKill blazed a trail of destruction in their home state of Indiana that included Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Kokomo, Muncie, Bloomington, Franklin, and Peru. Having established a brutal reputation locally, MercyKill unleashed a metal assault on the buckeye state (Ohio) with a blinding performance at Cincinnati's historic Sudsy Malone’s.

In April 2006, MercyKill released the debut CD Throw the Switch. All writing, recording, production, and distribution for MercyKill - Throw the Switch is conducted by the band itself, further proving that MercyKill is a group of highly motivated individuals deemed unstoppable. With the new CD available for sale in all 50 states and across the world, doors previously closed are now being kicked in and shattered as MercyKill expands the metal empire in 2006 with performances in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, St. Louis, Orlando, and many others as CD sales continue to grow.

The members of MercyKill have a long history with one and other that takes us back to the underground metal scene of the early 1990's. In 1991, out of the realms of obscurity, two rival groups of metal musicians rose from the depths of a nearly dead Indianapolis music scene. Fictional Tensions, featuring three future MercyKillers ( Jake, Sean, and Larry), and D-Sever with Scott Bronner formed an alliance that lead both bands to a local success previously unachieved by others. Both bands had album releases in 1993 that lead to several legendary performances as both bands continued to fuel one and others followings. However, by 1997, both bands had parted ways with several members moving to different parts of the United States. It seemed that the music was over.

Enter the year 2000. Percussionist Sean Young and guitarist Scott Bronner, by strange chance (if there is such a thing), discover that they are nearly next door neighbors, both living on the east side of Indianapolis. What started as a few friendly jam sessions slowly grew into a tight set of riffs that were to become the beginnings of Throw the Switch. Upon realizing the strong chemistry that had formed between Bronner and Young, the two contacted friend and renown metal vocalist Jake Corbin to apply his skills to their music. It wasn't long before these three realized that they were on the verge of something very special. There were only a few pieces of the puzzle missing.

In the Autumn of 2004, bassist Larry Langley returned after a long absence in South Florida and was invited to join the band. To complete the line-up, members of the band began the hunt for a second guitar player. After a long search, guitarist Jeremy Varao answered the challenge and joined the band. With the line up now complete, MercyKill are setting their sights for new horizons that include east and west coast tours in 2006 as well as a follow up CD release in 2007. Recent increase in CD sales in European countries point to a trip over the pond in 2007 as well. So keep your eyes open and don't dare to go to sleep. Somewhere, sometime, when you least expect it.....MercyKill is coming to get you.
