Meredosia

Meredosia

BandRockJam

Meredosia is a rock band with a flare for improvisational music with a clear and direct message. The band is united in the belief that through music and activism, change will occur gradually, one person at a time.

Biography

With influences ranging from the sophisticated and smooth sounds of Miles Davis to the abrasive forthrightness of MC5 and Rage Against the Machine, Meredosia has pioneered a sound that is unique to any genre. Fans of Rock n Roll, Funk, R&B, Blues, or Folk music will find a home within this guitar driven, lyrically savvy presentation. If you crave artistic creation and lament the patronizing agony that has become popular music, you will find comfort within the inclusive vibrations of this original group of musicians.

Lyrics

Blindfold

Written By: Jordan Allen, Meredosia

It's cataclysm,
It's cosmic vision,
It's crude and slick and covers faces like hoods,
It's toxic raining,
It's terror training,
It's all diversion but the programming's good,
It's old hands shaking,
It's history making,
It's coins and barrels plugging dams for the flood,
It's double-dealing,
It's Christian healing,
It's Texans washing money in a river filled with blood
So I'll scream till I'm numb…..
Blind, faithful and dumb
So I'll scream till I'm numb….
Blind, faithful and done
It's bait and switching,
It's trigger fingers itching,
It's pulling punches to prolong the fun,
It's underrating,
It's two minutes hating,
It's keep your eyes on the ground till we're done,
It's muscle flexing,
It's second-guessing,
It's venom dripping from the tip of the liars' tongue,
It's resource mining,
It's clever timing,
It's Stalin smiling as he gives you the gun.
So I'll scream till I'm numb
Blind, faithful, and dumb
So I'll scream till I'm numb
Blind, faithful and done
It's difference making,
It's minds awake and changing,
It's truth and courage and the ugly exposed,
It's tides are turning,
It's the fire burning,
It's sending signals they're just passing off as smoke,
It's the future,
It's the binding suture,
It's healing wounds with the medicine of care,
It's an understanding,
It's the right of all demanding,
It's the flame inside the torch and why we're standing there

Castaway

Written By: Jordan Allen, Meredosia

A castaway has it all been worth it,
That piece of mind like a fire to a fuse lit,
He sat days and days on the hope that,
He could wake up in the morning and just have his life back,
It was '73 he remembered,
In the coldest grip of November,
How the trees had all just turned brown,
And the puddles seemed to cover the gutters on the wet ground,
Now that he knows what he knows…yeah,
He thinks he'd never take that chance again,
But it comes once and it goes….yeah,
They never bet on a loser to win,
And when it came time to roll…yeah,
He made his move and lived in the moment,
And it was too much to lose…yeah,
Right then he knew what that meant.
It was a scene out of old time films where,
Hero bursts on the scene and the girls swear,
They'd take that man by the hand and,
Never take another lovers play til her days' end,
But it can never go just how you planned it,
And in those minutes of fear he just panicked,
He could see the car turn around and,
The quite in the body as it lay on the wet ground

A common line in a crowded room,
you just missed her, mister, didn’t you,
All the while the real world’s,
taking place on TV screen just behind you,
And the rooms the vibe,
Casanovas, Debutantes, and it’s suicide,
with the mood, I assume, you won’t mind if I,
change the conversation, see I’m pacing and I’m worried by it.
And ain’t that the way, Champagne splits over the drama of D-Day,
But each sighs’ just to hide a smile,
And while the music plays,
The ambience quiets the guilt of the next phase,
The privilege that provides the way,
To keep you where you’re warm and safe,
It dies when you don’t keep an eye,
On how you earned it anyway.
The uptown swinger’s now on the move,
dropped some green on the bar and his chest grew,
and he’s got a feeling,
the market’s turned the corner and that time’s on his side too,
but just outside,
the streets are filled with empty pockets and tired eyes,
so quick to turn off the mind, try not realize,
it’s easy to ignore the disease and then just sympathize
And ain’t that the way, Champagne splits over the drama of D-Day,
But each sighs’ just to hide a smile,
And while the music plays,
The ambience quiets the guilt of the next phase,
The privilege that provides the way,
To keep you where you’re warm and safe,
It dies when you don’t keep an eye,
On how you earned it anyway.
A common line in a crowded room,
you just missed her, mister, didn’t you,
All the while the real world’s,
taking place on TV screen just behind you,
And the rooms the vibe,
Casanovas, Debutantes, and it’s suicide,
with the mood, I assume, you won’t mind if I,
change the conversation, see I’m pacing and I’m worried by it.

Set List

Typical set list depends on stage time. If it runs an hour we can usually get in 9 songs and an improv jam. We rarely do covers, mostly original music and we have a few instrumentals.
