Lyric-Coloratura Soprano is a term commonly known by opera aficionados and schooled musicians. However this powerhouse vocalist has crossover appeal recently compared to Sarah Brightman and Enya.

Biography

Hailing from New Zealand and the product of a musical family, whose great grandfather was an acclaimed opera vocalist/pianist, and a great grandmother who worked the stage as an actress and vocalist, Merena showed signs of talent early and by the age of 4 began performing at local community events.

Merena started her vocal training under opera coach Ian Campbell while still in her teens in New Zealand, and her professional image was also polished there with the help of the June Dally Watkins acting & modeling academy.
She then continued her vocal tuition in the U.S. under renowned international vocalist/instructor Shigemi Matsumoto - President of the Classical Singers Association of Los Angeles.
Merena then furthered her instruction under John Henny at The Seth Riggs studio in Los Angeles who has worked with such singers as Josh Groban, Natalie Cole and Vanessa Hudgens.

After completing an 8 week run performing as a principal solo singer - “The English Nightingale” - for the 50th anniversary of “The Original Renaissance Pleasure Fair” she began working on her Debut studio album “Moonsickness”.

Many critics have commented on Merena’s crowd pleasing stage presence, which helps deliver her emotion-evoking vocal ability leaving the audience breathless and in awe of such a young talent with a promising career ahead of her.

Whether it is Opera, Musical Theater, Jazz, Big Band, or the new Classical Pop Crossover style ‘Popera’, this young super talent is sure to catch the ear of vocal enthusiasts worldwide!
