Bio
James “Mersilis” Allen created Komrads Productions Inc. in 1999 to pursue his passion of producing music. Allen a former NFL athlete felt restricted by his day job and retired in 2002 to fully commit to his responsibilities as an artist and CEO of Komrads Productions . Knowing he had to make a major sacrifice to prove his musical skills, he walked away from a one million dollar contract and so…. “Mersilis” was born. Rap music was a constant force in his life while growing up in the Southwest. Allen says, “Nothing was able to reach me like rap music. I began rapping at 13 years old and rap became a way for me to express my love, hate, happiness, anger, and fears about the ways of the world and the life I lead. Trust me it hasn’t been a bed of roses.”
Immediately following retirement he created the Mersilis Records label. Allen says, “I wanted to personally make sure we were creating an environment where our artists and producers can be free to create without having trendy industry pressure placed on them.” Mersilis Records in 2003 launched in his first maxi-single, “Nazty Girrrl.” His fan based grew quickly, as the song “Bad Guy” received national airplay. In October he is set to release his debut LP, self-titled “MERSILIS.” He will immediately begin touring to expose the music and reach his fans. Mersilis says, “I can’t wait to begin touring because I love the stage. Accomplishing a successful tour will put me and the company in position to compete with the majors in the rap industry.” He continues, “I wanted to make a solid debut, so I created a LP for the old and new hip-hop fans. The albums edgy lyrics and infectious beats will be accepted on the east and the west coast.” Mersilis is not looking back and is embracing the challenge that the industry, media and fans will present.
Currently Mersilis is working on his second album and looking for new artist to produce.
