Bio

M.E.R.V.I.N. is an eclectic rock band based in the small agricultural town of Royal City, in Grant County, WA. The name M.E.R.V.I.N. means Music Eclectically Reverberating Very Interesting Noise, and as their name suggests they are influenced by a wide array of musical styles and genres. These include Southern Rock, Blues, Funk, Alternative Rock, Classic Rock, Reggae, Ska, Jazz, and each member has had some level of classical training.

The band started in August of 2001 when brothers Nate and Alex Rowley decided they wanted to write music and start a band. Along with a mutual friend, they started a band named Antidote. They wrote some songs, some of which they are still doing today, and played locally wherever they could for whoever would listen.

They rehearsed in the "Back Room" of the Royal High School Music Department for the next four years. Three members came and went, and they changed the name of the band at one point to Eclectasy.

In mid-2004 Nate and Alex's little sister, Jessica, joined the band and they continued to perform locally under the new name. In mid-2005 the two brothers and sister took a hiatus to decide what direction they really wanted to go with their music.

Their father, Dave, had been working sound, managing, producing early recordings, and being a roadie since this all started. He had also played bass at several rehearsals and taught parts to the bass players that had been in the band. In mid-2005 the kids decided to let "the old man" in the band. And M.E.R.V.I.N. was born.

In late 2005 they began recording what would later become their debut release, "Original Sessions" on the label, Under The Microscope Productions, a company started by Dave. They recorded in the Royal High School Music Room, as Dave has been the band and choir director at Royal High School since 1997. They recorded their CD using ProTools LE 6.1 and DIGI 001. They had the final master and replication done through Discmakers.

As M.E.R.V.I.N., the band has played locally in Royal City, Ellensburg, and Moses Lake at small venues, parties, and wherever they can for whoever will listen. They believe in their music, and believe there are others out there that will also. As they promote this CD, they hope to gain a great fan base.
