Messin'

Messin' is the Chameleon of blues bands, able to adapt to different environments, but always staying true to the genre keeping its roots firmly planted in playing blues with feeling. Sometimes you'll find Messin' in the form of a duet playing acoustic blues at a private event, other times you'll find Messin' taking the form of a full blown Chicago Blues band, horn section and all. The one common denominator is that the music, whether it be jump, swing, slow blues, Chicago or Delta style, duet or 8 piece, is all steeped in the tradition of the blues ..... and that comes out in all of the performances. Audiences give Messin' great feedback no matter what the configuration.

Messin' started out in Canada as a 5 piece blues band with our three core members, Steve Jonas (vocals, harp), Sandra Lorimer (keyboards) and Pete Schmidt (guitar) along with various Toronto blues veteran drummers and bassists. Messin' was playing at some of Toronto's better known blues venues before two of the core members (Sandra and Steve) headed out to Japan from 2006 to 2008. While in Japan, Sandra and Steve played dozens of Messin' gigs as a duet and also added some very talented local musicians to the mix for several full band gigs in Osaka and Tokyo. When Sandra and Steve returned to N. America in 2009, they based themselves out of Boston where they met guitarist Ira Fader and various bassists and drummers with whom they started gigging in the New England area. Whenever possible, Pete Schmidt, their longtime guitarist and friend from Toronto fills in as well.
