"Randy Ray"

"The right mix of street funk, dance floor bravado, and straight up bad ass music." - Relix Magazine

"Janie Franz"

"The St. Louis band Messy Jiverson's warm sound is due in part to its vintage instruments and tube amplifiers. But it is the band's ability to twist old psychedelic and funk musical forms into brand new creations, laced with jazz and pure rock, that gives this band its approachable character and its appeal to audiences young and old. Though Messy Jiverson's current work is totally original, there is that sense of deja vu that listeners just can't quite place that makes their material appealing. It is also quite danceable and will surely keep any dance floor full all night." - SKOPE Magazine

""Best of St. Louis: Best Jam Band""

"Led by a barrage of vintage keyboards, Messy Jiverson finds a riff and manages to squeeze every last drop of joy out of it...The band's ability to pump our the disco-funk jams brings a certain verve to the music not normally produced by six white boys." - Riverfront Times

"Nate Kamp"

"If you are looking for a new sound with funky beats and psychedelic melodies, then look no further than Messy Jiverson. These local boys are taking St. Louis by storm with their fresh musical style that combines funky hip-hop with psychedelic rock." - STLSound Magazine

"Jess Camp"

"You can get a hint of what their shows are like by simply looking at their name. [It] says that the atmosphere of the shows is messy. The name Messy Jiverson started out as a concept, but now they're trying to personify it." - The Maneater

Bio

From the stacks of basement record collections and the soundtracks of 70’s and 80’s era cult films comes Messy Jiverson, a blast from the past that’s timelessly vintage, yet modernly applicable all in the same. Inspired by the sounds of dusty vinyl, dirty guitars, dangerous drum breaks and dynamic synthesizers, the band explores elements of funk, hip-hop, rock and soul in their completely original style. Heavily influenced by the loop digga movement and decades of musical history, Messy Jiverson is psychedelic rock with a hip-hop flair and hard dance beats.

Hailing from the Midwest, the band quickly formed after a group collaboration of several accomplished musicians came together in the summer of 2007. With the desire to make a serious musical statement, Messy Jiverson’s conceptual sounds feverishly attracted a young, hip, St. Louis crowd, mesmerized by body moving beats amid mind bending instrumental compositions. On the strength of their latest album, ROWC, the group plays to a loyal following night in and night out.

Priding themselves on their musicianship, the Messy Jiverson sound is the painstaking combination of vintage keyboards, drums, tube amplifiers and tape delays. Their love of their instruments, remarkable attention to tone, and practice of recording live to analog tape adds to the group’s signature style. Self proclaimed recording junkies; the band has released three records since 2008 of purely innovative Messy Jiverson psychedelia. Over the last few years they’ve shared the stage with such eclectic artists as Edan, EOTO, Family Groove Co., Euforquestra, Public Property, and Madahoochi.
