Bio
‘Leopold’s Treat’ front lady Kate Leopold has performed as a solo artist regularly around south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales for around four years. She has been humbled by the warm response of her audiences at original music venues around the Gold Coast region including the Loft, the Cave, Palmy Café, Queen Street Mall and Mandala Organic Arts Café as well as mini festivals (Kirra Surfstock, Southern Oracle Festival, Wonderland Festival). Kate has also proven to be a strong supporter of causes for the welfare of animals and conservation, performing at fundraisers for Animal Friends, Animal Action Day and Sea Shepherd, as well as open mic’s, showcases and market days.
Kate’s debut EP ‘It goes by’ came into fruition in mid 2011, with a grant awarded by the Regional Arts Development Fund (Arts Queensland). The EP has received some airplay on community radio stations nationwide through AMRAP’s AirIT initiative. Leopold’s Treat played a line up of shows to launch the EP in January 2012, with a record turnout at their EP launch party at Mandala Arts Cafe. Leopold’s Treat continue to prove themselves as a cohesive unit, with a number of shows booked for 2012 at music venues and events including ‘Local park, local sounds’ hosted by the southern Gold Coast music hub at Queen Elizabeth Park in Coolangatta.
A voice that will mesmerise, and lyrics that will draw you in are uplifted by the sounds of ‘Leopold’s Treat’ who are Sarah Dern (bass guitar), Kieran Richardt (lap slide), Nige Maunder (drums), and Dave Honeyman (guitarmonies). Leopold’s Treat connect with the audience through sharing stories that are often somehow familiar. You are sure to walk away feeling refreshed and rejuvenated by their music, which is experimental acoustic in nature and has a unique country-folk feel.
