Hailing from Las Vegas, and now celebrating 6 strong years in Los Angeles; Metaphase is a Multi-Instrumentalist , Artist, DJ/Producer, and Supporter in the Int'l Electronic Music Movement. DJ'ing for 8 years solid, and producing for 10 years, Frankie Metaphase has shown a unique diversity of releases on a slew of Int'l labels.
As a Pro Drummer with 14 years of drumming knowledge and experience, Metaphase focuses heavily on rhythm and syncopation in his music, although paying great attention to sub-sonics, harmony,melody, and texture.
Metaphase has studied Percussion and Composition with some of the worlds most respected musicians (Swappan Chaudhuri, Randy Gloss, David Johnson, Art Jarvenin, Ann Lebaron) at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), obtaining a BFA in 2006.
Electronic music first caught the ear of Metaphase in the late 90's, and progressed to bring him to old warehouse and desert parties of the classic Vegas underground scene. Already having a passion for music through playing Drums and the Piano, Metaphase naturally gravitated towards Music Production and DJ'ing.
This interest also led to Metaphase co-founding SoundBwoy Engineers. Together they amassed several successful 500+ attendance Art/Music Festivals in Las Vegas, bringing out talent nation-wide, and further influencing the Electronic music climate.
Drum'n'Bass is the main focus of DJ/Producer Metaphase, although his sound carries over into several other Genres (Dubstep , Breaks, Experimental Techno). As an Instrumentalist, Metaphase plays North Indian Percussion(Tabla & Kanjira), Drumset , Keys, Hand Percussion (Tar/Frame Drum/Cajon,Congas), other projects Metaphase has worked on have involved Composition for acoustic ensembles (String Quartet , Voice + Live Electronics, Percussion Ensemble) and Sound Design, Audio Engineering, and Composition for Film
