Bio
Straight to the point, no hype, no soul selling; Metaphisc is a melodically focused, synth driven rock band, with a generous amount of rhythmic metal thrown in for good measure.
Founded originally in 2004 by Jeremy “Eclipse” Hanson, the band had multiple lineups until in 2006, Eclipse met Alfred “Human” Pusey, who had primarily been working on his own for many years due to his very specific musical ideas. But after hearing Eclipse sing and listening to a few demos (including the original version of Hear You Scream), Human found his musical counterpart, and joined Metaphisc.
Working diligently to put together the foundations of the first album, Eclipse and Human spent almost a year writing and recording before deciding it was time to expand and play live. Quickly sifting through shred happy diva guitarists and stereotypical Hendrix wannabes, the duo met Josh “Slick” Krogstad. At first Slick was only intended as a live guitarist, but he quickly proved his talent for writing leads and is now a permanent member.
Joe Cousins (who currently has no musical alias and is humorously referred to as “Just Joe”) joined to play live rhythm guitar. As time went on, Joe showed that he is a valuable member of the band and will be assisting with the writing process for future material.
With the live lineup in place, Eclipse began to book shows at local clubs. With only weeks before the first gig, tragedy struck. Joe’s apartment caught fire, and when trying to put the fire out, he sustained multiple serious burns on his left arm. To add insult to injury, his guitar was reduced to ash, rendering him not only physically, but musically incapable of fulfilling his position for the time being.
Despite missing a member, the first show was a huge success. The Satyricon was packed during their set and fans cheered for more with each sequential song. Fan reception has only increased since the first show, with multiple requests for encores due to their unique sound and eloquently written songs such as “Dear Satan” and “Nostalgic Sickness.”
With a rapidly growing fan base and an intensely driven mindset, Metaphisc prepares to take on a scene normally ruled by Nu-Metal, Screamo and hardcore, to give today’s listeners an intelligently written and passionately played alternative to the cookie-cutter formula music on the air waves today.
