metheus Bound

metheus Bound

 Toronto, Ontario, CAN
BandR&BSoul

A socially conscious body of musicians, pulling from influences like Jeff Buckley, John Mayer, Dave Matthews and their own studies of jazz and world music to create something unique and necessary. Mainstream music for the soul.

Biography

metheus Bound has been writing and performing for nearly 3 years, an album release under their belt and another on the way. Their music bridges the gap from the introspective lyricism of singer/songwriter to the high energy stage presence of the indie scene. Their approach is driven by honesty, and motivated by growth. They may not be standard radio fair, but they will demand the attention of the dreamer and skeptic alike.

Lyrics

Capture

Written By: James Everett

As days stretch on,
break of dawn is understated
As night kicks in,
the evenings din is wholly faded
The sea and sky,
are wondering why their child is jaded
And in your eyes,
the caption why is contemplative

This capture...
Is mountains high and deserts wide
This rapture...
Is city small and traffic crawl, where convictions small but judgment's tall
It's sitting in my living room, it's living in this living proof

This once charade,
it's no parade it's not important
It's lying there,
beneath the air it's struck a chord and...
As dust will fall,
the people crawl and shout they're 'has beens'
It never will,
become the real at least not for them

All in You

Written By: James Everett

My life has been written as two things
One confidence, assurity, one fear of what the future brings
And I don't remember dreams,
As vivid as they are I can't hold anything
But I do remember you,
You were dancing in the rain
and I remember saying...

Jaw dropped as she walked away
Turned to my side just to say
Damn that girl done struck my eye
Her sway is like a lullaby
Throw myself in and here it comes,
Looks like we march, two different drums
My heart goes in but don't come out
Same sad story they all talk about
Naturally came sorrow songs,
But before too long
Your love came crashing like a wave
Lucky me to get swept away

I'm all in you
I'm all strung out on faiths' desire, with my voice to sooth
I'm all in you
And my voice will never tire, saying...

Made love in the afternoons
Mornings sometimes came to soon
Go to work just a little late
Darkened eyes but smiling just cause
I got a lady who won't let me go
And I got a secret that you need to know
I'm all in you and for you
I could not be with anyone else, oh lady, just cause
I'm not the one that you've turned me in to
I'm pretty sure that I'm better for you

I'm all in you
I'm all strung out on faiths' desire, with my voice to sooth
I'm all in you
And my voice will never tire, saying...

Don't know what tomorrow brings
Its love I got and one sure thing
That tomorrow everything may change
But one thing will stay the same,
You'll hear me say it, saying...

Brightest Star

Written By: James Everett

Could you believe I'm sorry for, being myself again
Cause all it seems to mean to me, is saying the wrong thing
When you turn to look at me, I turn to stone but melt inside
Have you ever felt it that, what you wish you could share is what you need to hide

Oh, I know, this could all be living in my head
But then you looked at me, there's something I should have said
Oh no, I'll turn away believe what I always have
That I'm just a little boy reaching for the brightest star over my head

Told her I would be her friend, in a way I believed it too
Funny how we make these plans, but rarely do things do what we expect them to
Believe me when I say, I tried to forget, to hide away the truth
But to me your honesty, is a beauty that I couldn't shake from you

Oh, I know, this could all be living in my head
But then you looked at me, there's something I should have said
Oh no, I'll turn away believe what I always have
That I'm just a little boy reaching for the brightest star over my head

So now I've passed it on to you, I wait for the axe to fall
I'll probably start to shy from you, what could you think of it all
Still when all's said and done, I feel I've made the choice I really should have made
Cause now this is an open wound, so it can start to heal and maybe start to fade

Compassion for Pride

Written By: James Everett

The rain crashed down,
I stood in the street
Rolled down bare arms off my fingertips
and made puddles at my feet
The street lamps light lit hazed
But the message is clear
I bow my head in praise,
wishing you were here

Im wishing you were here

Now Im crippled and shunned as has always been done
to those who perceive
And I hate to bare weakness but I fear that in this,
I've lost faith in belief
So don't you say that I've bid you farewell
When compassion reigns you'll see that I've never left

What if we all gave up at once,
Gave up on the thought that others need
What if all this world had forward to see,
Was the backs of those concerned with greed
I read a letter it said missing child
I thought, excused, what could one man do?
I threw the picture to the wind
And see what it has led me to?

The pain of having given up,
the loss of human faith
Compassion grips on sweetened lips, the cry
What have I done for this?

Please, don't give up on me

The rain crashed down,
I stood in the street
Rolled down bare arms and reminded of taste,
bitter with defeat
The street lamps light lit hazed,
but the message is clear
And I spend my remaining days
Wishing you were here...

Jilt

Written By: James Everett

Red painted room
Barren four walls
Laughter once had a face
Now it's a chasm that strikes from the heart.

Alone in the house
Where you used to dwell
I'm quietly breaking down
And tearing down walls that you built for the kill
Silently cursing cause I need you still

And though I know,
this is probably just another heart ache
Take it slow...

We bow from the stage
A graceful decline
And though we may still have love
There's no way to bridge all the cracks in our game
There's no way to tell us what we want's the same

Think For Yourself

Written By: James Everett

You will fight with conviction,
But you wont fight with your mind
You will fight with opinion,
But you wont fight with your own
You will fight for my soul,
But only to glorify yourself
You will fight to be judged fair,
But you'll never hold a trial

Think for yourself...
Passion will rule your reason
Hypocrisy will rule your nation
I'm black, white, gay, straight, compassion, indifference, love and hate
I'm dark, light, fight, flight, the sun in the day and the moon at night

Our father who art in heaven,
Please send word by your name
Not through presidents or false prophets nor ancient books, or claims to fame
Give us back an identity and strike down
Pretense at knowing your ways
Give us unity and peace and understanding so pure,
Or give us nothing and let us

Think for ourselves...
Passion will rule your reason
Hypocrisy will rule your nation
I'm black, white, gay, straight, compassion, indifference, love and hate
I'm dark, light, fight, flight, the sun in the day and the moon at night

"Only through our God could you be saved"
But should the righteous fear god?
For they have no sovereign but reason
No guidepost but their hearts

...could letting "love" in your heart give you the right
to hate and fear and judge, demean?

I read a book once and thought it was real,
had a few ideas I thought I'd steal
Til it got out of hand I was
fighting for my promised land
I had soldiers and soldiers in nations untold,
Empowered and bold to stomp on the souls of those who wont go... To the Promise land

Luck Favours the Bold

Written By: James Everett

It's your eyes girl, I think that they've got me pinned to the wall
And your smile well, would cause most any man to trip and fall
But I've been here before, and though fingers itch to rest upon your face
Its been a while and, these weathered feet, they fear to change the pace

Oh, but if you knew my hearts desires
Would you tell me "Luck favours the bold"
And if you knew I'd walk through fire
Would you hold me or say, "Luck favours the bold"

Any man may court your lust, but he won't know your mind
And it's a shame cause, I think that I might know what's inside
So I, stay strong, stay steady and get your back til you are through
At the same time, I know that this is not the one for you

Oh, but if you knew my hearts desires
Would you tell me "Luck favours the bold"
And if you knew I'd walk through fire
Would you hold me or say, "Luck favours the bold"

Now the time has come at last
For me to tell my heart for true
But before I speak you turn to me and whisper
I've never had a friend like you
So on and on this soulful song
Played in my head a thousand times
Will be that old reprise that haunts me
And keeps you in my dreams tonight

Next time I hear my hearts desire
I'll know, Luck favours the bold
And now I've surely through fire
And now I know, Luck favours the bold
